Would you stay at SSR without a car?

I was thinking about the Congress Park area with a DTD view. How far of a walk is it from there to the main pool area and restaurant?

Or is SSR more of a "you better have a rental car" kind of resort? :goodvibes

I would think you could do without a car, its a 5-7 min walk to the pool area, 10 -15 to DTD where you can catch resort buses, and I have never had a bus problem in my 5 stays there. We love SSR and in my opinion you dont need a car. :cool1:

the bus service isnt all that bad at ss...the longest wait time we had was from epcot, i think we waited 25 minutes that night...it was a friday and i think they only had 2 busses running that night for ss. but atleast the bus only goes to that resort unlike the boardwalk, beachclub, swan and dolphin bus.

My wife and I had a rental car on our first SSR stay with our adult daughter. We used it to take her back to the airport halfway through our trip (about 1 hour, with drop-off, round trip from SSR). Our second trip was just wife and me. We used ME to and from the airport, no rental this time. The buses were fine and we did not miss the car.
Barring physical limitations, SSR is a good walking resort. Like POR or Poly. The average person should have no problems.

We had no rental car on our stay last Oct. We were in the furthest section of Congress Park and it was about 7 min to the main building.

We didn't have a car...we flew and took ME from the airport and I would do it again. This is a lovely resort. We were across the bridge in Paddock and enjoyed the stroll back at night after stopping off at the Artists Pallette. It is so peaceful and pretty. There are internal busses that go around but we never needed one. Have a great trip!
