Getting an Epcot resort at Christmas

I am in the early planning stages for a possible 2006 Christmas trip. We own at OKW so I know we can get in there but how do you rate our chances of getting BC, BWV or WL in either a studio or a 1 bed from 27th December till 3rd January

I'd say your odds are 50/50 - if you are willing to call day by day as soon as MS opens at your 7 month window and waitlist for any days that are not available.

There will always be some availability at the 7 month window, but the competiton for those rooms at the smaller resorts (VWL, BCV & BWV) will continue to increase as the membership increases. The "worm will go to the early bird".

If you need your choice to be a sure thing, you'll need to make arrangements to rent or trade reservations with someone who has 11 month booking priviledges.

I don't mind which one - we just fancy a change over Christmas. If you had to put them in order which do you think I'd have the best chance of getting (I know it's a hard one to call

I'd think you best chance would be an ordinary BW preferred view. I'd think you'd have to get darn lucky to get VWL.

I would place your chances at better than 50% for now for those dates if you used all options available. You best bet is to book at 11 months for OKW then keep that and book day by day at your preferred resort, wait listing day by day for any you do not get initially. Then cancel OKW on your last call if you are set. BWV preferred, but not BW view, is likely your best option for success but BVC may work out as well. I also feel this is one of the options that will become more and more difficult and that only the people who are so aggressive will have much chance of success.
If you don't have enough points to keep both until you're certain you are set, it does become a little more difficult and complicated. You must then decide what changes to take. If you don't have enough points to keep both, call on day 1 at 7 months out and ask them availability for your preferred destination for the time of your trip. They can tell you what it looks like even if you can't book for a couple of days. Then if there are days not available when you call, you just decide whether to proceed, wait list day by day, wait list for the entire portion at one time or abandon your plan.

We just returned from a 6 night stay at BWV----Boardwalk view. We own at OKW and HH and booked BWV at the 7 month mark. Didn't have to waitlist or call day by day. Was amazed that Boardwalk view was available and we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Jakki - having been at WDW over Xmas and New Year before (as you know ) I would really recommend you trying for an Epcot resort too

The handy location is so good for MGM & Epcot - and when it's busy this is so useful!!

That's what I thought - we hope to be at the Contemporary first so that will take care of MK and then move to OKW on 27th to save points. We thought we'd spend 4 nights there and then try for the Boardwalk from 31st to 2nd January.

As you know we'd love to try Christmas once while the kids are still young and still believe but it's very early stages (mainly me panicking about the cost) We'll decide for sure once I get the flight prices and then I'll probably pick your brains some more
