If you go to a web site where in order to rmail them you have to fill out a form, shouldn't you get some sort of confirmaiton that it has been received. I wanted to get an important message thru to the person on a web site and I filled out the form and clicked send. But nothing is telling me it was sent. Then I went to another place on the site and filled out a similar form. Here it did say you will receive confirmation. I haven't, but it's only been a half hour. I don't know if something like that is generated automatically. Any thoughts?

Sometimes it will depend on the firewall your message has to go through to get the recipient. Where I work, it can take anywhere from a few seconds to twenty minutes for a message to reach me from outside the company, depending on the sender's address, the length of message and any attachments. So, if a receipt is being sent, it won't leave my e-mail box until after I've actually received (or opened, depending on the type of receipt) the message. That could explain the time difference.

It also could be that receipts are stored and sent out in batches, once an hour or three times a day or whatever. It could just be sitting in the queue waiting to be sent.

Also ... if you asked that a receipt be sent when the recipient VIEWS the message, that may take longer, since the person you're sending to may not be at the computer at the exact moment the message is received. I usually put two receipts on things I need record of -- one that says it arrived in the mailbox and one that says it was opened.

It's not a confirm from my email. It's from the web site. This is what the message says

you will receive an email confirming that your email has been sent

I kind of figured that meant it was automatically generated when I sent an email. It's been over an hour. I don't care if it takes them 3 days as long as my not getting the confirmation doesn't necessarily mean the mail wasn't received. The other form I filled out on the site was done 3 days ago. I never received a confirmation from that form, but it doesn't say you will. I did the other form because I wasn't sure the first mail had gone thru.
