My son loves roller coasters (when he meets the height requirements) is there a place in Disney where we can get an official measurement for him so that we don't stand in line for some rides then he gets rejected....he is about 43 inches right now..I really hope he grows an inch...he'll be so excited...it has been a good way to get him to eat well...I keep telling him he needs to eat his veggies to grow ;)

No, Disney will not do this, sorry. In fact he will be measured twice at any ride that he appears to be close to, at the entrance to the line and again right before the ride.

No central location. He will usually be measured at the entrance to an attraction and AGAIN at loading. If passes the first and not the second then he won't get to ride. From what I understand they are very strict on this rule.

Ditto and ditto.

Disney tested a version of "measure-once-for-the-day" wristbands.
Too many guests decided that the wristband could be slipped off of the taller
kid and put on the wrist of the shorter kid to enable an unauthorized ride.

:( well that stinks....they do it here in nj and it works great :(...I.m just going to have to stretch him so he's not disappointed ;)..I understand them being strict about it...in fact I'm happy about it for safety reasons...I'm not trying to buck the system at all....it just figures that I may have a kid that's border line

Leave it to a couple of bad eggs to ruin the bunch

Our DD just turned 4 on Christmas, and is also 43in. We go the end of next month. February has been the month she normally grows the most in. I'm crossing my fingers for an inch :rotfl2: She grew 6inchs last February. We live down the road from Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and we get measured the one time upfront. I can see where Disney is coming from.

~It's always good to have your child prepared to ride something else, just in case. But, even at 43 inches, he'll be able to ride the majority of rides at Disney. If your DS is 43 inches without shoes -- the shoes will add an inch. Also, it is best to avoid those overly thick soled Skechers because the CM's will request to measure the child without shoes. Have fun! :cool1:

Yes...he's prepared that he may not be tall enough...but he's really itching to get on space mountain especially...lol

Again...I understand why Disney does it but I really hope he doesn't pass the first and fail the second measurement that would be really sad and disappointing :(
Grow baby grow so I don't have to put lifts in his shoes ;) (seinfeld reference)

You didn't say how long before your next trip, but a few months before a trip that really mattered for my little guy because he was just shy of the mark, I made a "Disney Stick" out of a couple of pieces of 1x (go to Home Depot and ask for help, they will even make it for you).

Basically, the upright piece had another piece screwed at the 42" mark for him (or 44, or whatever you need).

Every morning, we'd measure him with the Disney stick. He'd learn to stand up straight and tall and bump his head up against the height marker.

When we got to Disney, he knew the routine. In fact, he was so close that a couple of the CM's would even refer to the result of his height measurement as a "head butt".

Great idea

We actually put a 44 inch mark on our kitchen wall

Thank you

We were thinking of letting DD wear her boots, but I was afraid they would do something like that. So much for that idea..

I may have to make a stick. Very good idea. DD likes to slouch. Which makes my DH crazy.

He's actually about 42 1/2 woth out shoes and 43 with his regular sneakers

Just teach him to stand tall and hopefully he will make that last inch. Be prepared that they are EXTREMELY strict about this height thing and if a CM says no then it is no. Doesn't matter if he just rode it 1second before and is coming around for another ride.

If they deny him entry, ask for a card for when he is tall enough. I forget what the official name is but they have cards they can give kids that are ride specific about coming back when they hit the mark and are used as an anytime FP. We got them years ago for our youngest when he was too short and I saw them just last week for Test Track (the new TT ) so I know they are still around.

Also, keep in mind that people are supposedly a bit taller in the morning than they are later in the day.

Thank you

I'm not one to argue with them they are doing their jobs..if they say no they say no

Thank you

Unfortunately, there isn't much consistency measuring from ride to ride. :headache:

This is good to know! I love the Disney Stick idea! I will have to get my DH to make one!!

When we go my DD will be 4, but at her 2 year well visit, July 2013, she was 36 inches!! She takes after my DH who is 6ft and her DPap who is 6'3".

and she LOVES the rides at our local amusement park. Good thing I am an avid rider!! My DH hates rollar coasters and anything that spins!

Lol that is my dh exactly...I will be the one taking DS on all The rides (if he grows :) ) while dh stays with DD5 who is certainly tall enough to ride ALL the rides but she's like DH and doesn't like heights...lol
