Hi all,

My Dr. has just switched my medication, but if it doesn't work I'll be going back to the old meds.

The new ones require refridgerations, my old ones do not.

I've booked ASMo for March 4-9th, without the fridge(rx change happened after I booked) and I need to call to add it on just in case I'm still on it.

What are Disney's rules for exempting the cost of the rental? Do I need to provide a Dr.'s note or prescription to prove I have meds to be refridgerated? What if I've been switched back to the old ones before we actually head on to vacation?

I'm really not sure what I should do..:confused3

I believe that the ADA laws would prevent Disney from requiring medical proof. Just call them and tell them you need the fridge for meds. If you find that you won't need it after all, just give them a call again before you leave. This courtesy is an important one, since the fridges are always in great demand.

1) Medical fridges are free for the asking.
2) They are small, and just big enough for meds.
3) They are too small for food, milk, soda, etc.

You do not need proof. And you might get a normal size dorm fridge instead of the tiny ones. We did at Sports.

I got a medical fridge at sports, it's a mini fridge, it was able to hold some waters and milk a smaller milk though and some juice boxes and my meds was tiny but had some room.

I actually don't know that the ADA would prevent Disney from asking for proof of medication as this is not a request for equality but rather a request for something special (equality would be that you pay for the fridge like everybody else). I honestly don't recall if I've ever been asked but I always have our medications with us in our carryons so when we check in I could just easily show the medications that require refridgeration anyway (I bring it in an insulated lunch box with a ziploc bag that I fill with ice once through security). In other words, you'll have the medication with you anyway since you should NEVER pack medication in a checked bag; you should ALWAYS have it with you just in case checked bags get lost/delayed/damaged.

Personally, I'd call and have the fridge removed from the reservation once I know for sure that I don't need it for medical reasons. It just seems like the right thing to do. Since it seems more like that you will need the fridge, I'd have it on the reservation and then just remove it if things change.

Good luck with your new medication. I hope it helps.
