This morning I noticed our fare had dropped so I called AirTran for a credit. Online the difference was $8 each (every little bit counts) before taxes, but when I called, she would only give me a $2 credit because they go by the phone reservation prices, not online prices. Is there somewhere I could have gone to online to receive the credit?

I"m surprised you got any credit at all because AirTran stopped giving credits for price decreases awhile back. Unless you pay the change fee of $100 and that pretty much wipes out any credits.

They are doing credits again...I got $6 Monday. I paid $99 pp for 2 tix and the price went down to $96. So, I called and got the credit of $6 with no problems at all. Maybe, you should try calling back....

Well she didn't seem at all surprised when I called and asked. I thought I had read on recent posts from people inquiring about Airtran, that issuing a credit if your fare dropped was an AirTran policy.(?) Thanks DisneyaholicRaquel, I think I will.~:)~

I called them back (special thanks to DisneyaholicRaquel) and got a very helpful person who actually laughed when I told her I was only allowed a $2 credit on a $16 fare drop. She took care of it for me.:cheer2:

No, you have to call in order to ask for the credit...they charge a fee for anything that is done over the phone so they take it out of that price difference you saw.

I bought our tickets for 4pp in Sept on Monday b/c I was afraid of rate increases this summer. I thought Airtran didn't do credits so Wednesday when the rate had gone down by $20 per person I just kicked myself. It was back up by Thursday so I lived with it. UNTIL I saw this post and realized I could have gotten almost $100 credit:furious: Now I REALLY want to kick myself!
oh well I'mgladweregoingI'mgladweregoingI'mgladwe'regoing

Keep checking...it could go down again!

I wonder if they don't give a credit based on the Web Special fares. Those are usually only available online. So if they only credit based on phone prices, that wouldn't include Web Specials.

I had problems with this a few days ago. I booked my flight on Monday and saw on Tues that my flight coming home dropped $60+. I called to recieve a credit and the girl had no problem doing that but said I had to pay $6 to get a new seat assignment so it dropped the credit to $54 which is still good!

When I got online to re-print my new seat assignment, I noticed the credit was only $39 and read the fine print: You will be charged a $15 fee for any credits or changes done over the phone. $39 is still $39 I guess and I have a year to use it. It would have been much nicer paying $289 for my flight and not $352 which is what I paid :(

Oh well, I'm going and it is my splurge of the year!!

My brother also did the same thing on Wed. The flight home that he was on left at 8:00am, a DME 5am pick up time, yuck! He was able to cancel his flight and rebook it for a 6pm flight that had dropped over $100 and still save $5 bucks with the $75 cancel fee and now he gets another day in WDW!!
