Getting a cable modem, what extra security do I need?

Get a router, even if you don't plan to have more than one PC access the cable modem. They are the the most effective firewall you can buy. You can buy them for less than $50 and CompUSA or Fry's.

Turn your computer OFF when you aren't using it. No one can hack into it if it's off. Norton and Adware will protect you from files you recieve, whether you are on cable, T1, DSL, or dial up.

You will love it! I can ds anywhere in my house, or at my pool, as long as my battery stays charged. Now I need a wireless mouse for the complete package.

The router is an excellent idea. In addition to that, I have Tiny Personal Firewall installed on my PC to check for anything that might slip through the firewall. If you need any help setting up your system, don't hesitate to give me a call.

I agree with the others. Either the router or ZoneAlarm are great.

I just read on download.com that Zone Alarm won't work with Kazaa. Actually, that should be the other way around. Kazaa wont' work with Zone Alarm. Is that true for you guys?

I didn't like ZoneAlarm. Too many alerts for nothing serious. I also recommend a router. We have several computers in the house so we're using a Linksys wireless router. Some of the computers are actually "hard-wired" into the LAN, others (laptops) are using the wireless features. Its fantastic.

That is probably correct. Instant Messaging doesn't work either.

After reading most of the reviews, I decided to download the older version (2.6) and Kazaa and AOL IM both seem to be working fine. Read reviews on download.com before you download software. The reviews might suggest better alternatives.
