Here's the scoop:

This November 3 - 8th we will be staying at the Yacht Club. Me, my DW and two DS's 4 and 7yrs. This is our first ever trip to WDW. This will be post 7-day Magic cruise.

Here's the question:

Should we rely on Disney transportation to get around(I think we'll be spending alot of time at MK), or should we rent a minivan for a week(around $200 from Avis w/Costco discount)?

What would you do?

Thanks everyone for your input.

Well, your in walking distance to Epcot and just a boat ride away from MGM. The only bus you'll need is to AK, Downtown Disney and MK. I would skip the rental and go with the buses. But that's just my opinion. We rented a car once and from experience if you drive to MK....you need to first get into the parking lot. From the parking lot you need to wait for the parking lot tram to come and pick you up to take you to the Transportation and Ticket Center. From there you get the monorail to the front gate at magic kingdom. Sounds like that'll be a huge hastle with 2 kids. It's a lot easier sitting on an airconditioned bus for 20 minutes and being let out directly at the front gate of the MK. I would never rent again.

Just plan ahead and know that if you are taking the bus after Illuminations ends at EPCOT....there will be a line. You might have to either wait for a bus with a seat or you'll be standing. But if you know that ahead of time...you won't have a problem. Although this is irrelevant because you can walk back to your hotel or take the boat.

I agree with Figaro, the MK is the biggest pain to park at. If you can let a Disney bus drive you to the entrance and drop you off, thenI would definitley do it. We have used Disney transportation every time we go and have never had a problem with it. My father comes with us and he is in a wheelchair and still the disney transportation is almost always better than trying to drive.

Have a good trip

We're not fans of renting a vehicle, though lots of people swear by it. These are our thoughts:

You're on vacation--why bother with driving and parking? I like the idea of being driven around to wherever I want to go, and the buses drop you right off at the entrances to all parks. You just can't beat the convenience. Some people comment that the buses take longer to get from park to park than it takes if you drive your own car. But by the time you park that car and get transported to the park from the HUGE parking lot, the people who took the bus are probably already in the park.

Just our opinions! :D

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on this matter. I think we will go ahead and bag the car rental and trust Disney transportation.
