what do they do when they put braces on your teeth?

Hm, lets see if I can remember X amount of months ago I got them on.

Oh yeah. I don't know the words, so you're going to get a vauge description.

First, I mould will be taken of your mouth.

Then, the orthodontist uses (what I'd say is like a compressor) to hold your tounge back. (You mouth needs to be as dry as possible, so your saliva is removed.)

The braces get cemented to your teeth one by one (I didn't think it was that long.) Then the wires are put on, and your teeth'll kill you for about 4 days.

I reccomend motrin, tylenol, advil, or aleve, (Your normal pain-killer.) should be taken before you get them on.

August 19, 2004. Four days before I went to Disney. I was a bit stupid deciding to get them put on then, was I? But when I got to Florida, the Disney magic worked, and my teeth stopped hurting. KdoneIhopeIhelped.

well at my orthadontist, they put the bands on first which is the silver thingy that goes around all four of you back teeth. so they glue that around it. then they put the little bracey thingy on and then they put your wires through them and tighten up on the bands (thats the only thing that kinda hurt to me). and then yea thats it. have fun!

they may feel really weird on your teeth at first but you get used to 'em.

::yes::

I remember my uncle made his famous chicken noodle soup, and I lived off of that.

My first non liquid food: COOKIES! (But they were mushy, but not bad. You know what I mean.) It hurt like H3ll but was worth it.

I went to Disney the next day, and I was able to eat whatever I wanted.

It's been exactly 7 months since I got them off!

it doesnt efect how you talk. and your orthodontist should tell you how long you should have 'em on for.

i had mine for almost 3 1/2 months... i get my bottom braces on around christmas though :guilty:

I was supposed to have mine for 18 months (8/04 - 2/04), but they were kept on an extra 3 months.

5/1/06 = best day of my life!

Your lips might get stuck in the brackets. Happens to me all the time. My gums get stuck on my bands, too.

Your teeth won't hurt until hours after you get them on. Eat a good meal right after, get used to eating.

Getting the porcelains (well, they aren't porcelain anymore...but they were. They're the colored parts that hold the wirees in) exchanged actually hurts me. They get these clamps...grab one end, wrap arouund, and pull up. It feels like they're gonna pull your teeth out.

Each month or so you should get a little salvation. Most of the time, every visit, they take my wires out and have me brush. Even if they don't change the thickness of the wire, they still put a fresh one in. When the wire is out, it feels good.

i know! i cant resist the temptation!

They put bands around your back teeth, then put the things on your teeth then they put the wires on.

It doesnt hurt for a few hours then it starts hurting. Mine hurt for like almost a week. After that they were fine!
