Get the insurance or not? and why?

I did because we are going during hurricane season. Since we live on the East coast ourselves. I took it just to be safe in case there was a hurricane anywhere from NJ to FL that might screw up our flight coming or leaving Disney.

The Atlantic hurricane season is officially from 1 June to 30 November.

We go often in August and have never purchased insurance. We did get caught in WDW during Hurrican Charlie though.

When is hurricane season? We are going the 1st week of July, are we okay? LOL

I forget exactly when hurricane season officially starts (Apr or May) but the beginning of July should be safe. The peak of the hurricane season is around mid to end of August/beginning of Sept.

We did not do the insurance for out upcoming trip in August. The chances of a hurricane hitting on the specific day/location we are travelling to is small. You have a better chance of getting delayed by your normal everyday thunderstorm than a hurricane or even equipment problems.

we usually dont but i would if traveling during hurricane season--u never know!, i also heard its kind of important to get it if you are going on a cruise too but i'm not really sure why lol. we usually travel in early summer or spring break so we dont usually worry about it, we do sometimes get extra insurance for a rental car.

I get trip insurance for cruises, and I would also get it if I bought a vacation package. I don't buy it when I book air and hotels separately.

If you have to cancel a cruise at the last minute - you're generally out all the money you paid. Trip insurance also covers things like trip interruption and medical expenses - which your own health insurance might not cover if you're out of the US.

After reading the new post about the insurance, I'm adding it onto our reservation as we speak!!

We get it. We have always traveled to DW during 'cane season, plus kids or even my wife or myself could get sick at any time right before a trip.

thanks!! if my dad would ever agree to a cruise then i would suggest we get it but seeing as he is totally against them i guess it will be a few years until i will have to worry about that sadly enough!
