Just wanted to add one thing re: the Owner's Locker. Yes, you could probably accomplish the task by shipping items from home, etc. But, this requires you to gather your items, then pack them, then drag them to the post office or ups store. Then, you have to do the same thing at the end of your vacation.
The Owner's Locker frees you up from this chore. While I would never go so far as to call this chore a hardship, it could be considered quite inconvenient depending on my schedule the week before I leave on vacation. For example, I work all week (as does my DH) and we leave on Saturday morning for vacation. I would have to squeeze time out of my schedule to accomplish this chore. Not always easy, since most of the time the post office is closed at the time I leave for work, and closed by the time I get home from work.
The last time I shipped items down, it cost more than $20. If I'd shipped the items home, it would have been another $20. (I didn't ship my stuff home, I put my stuff in an OL). That's $40, nearly half the yearly fee to keep an OL.
In addition, the next time we went to Florida and used our OL, I stored some items I would normally have discarded (i.e. open bottle of cognac, several cans of soda, non-perishable food items, open container of laundry detergent). The next time we go, I will not have to spend money to purchase these items, and more important, will not need to waste my valuable vacation time going shopping for them. And, the second time we went, I saved myself $40 in roundtrip shipping.
OL may not work for everyone, but it does work splendidly for us
