On May 5 United will begin charging $25 for every checked bag over 1/person, not including strollers and car seats. Other airlines may or may not follow suit. If you have been wavering on whether or not to lighten up your packing by getting on Owners Locker, now may be the time to get off the fence. If you will be traveling to WDW before May 5 or have already purchased a ticket before Monday (pre-purchased tickets are grandfathered), fill up that 2nd bag and bring all of your favorite stuff to fill your locker. Then never worry again about paying for too much luggage!

It even gets worse than that - it's $25 for the second bag and $100 for the third and fourth bag checked!!!

We've been easily able to get by with carry-ons since using OL for the past year. We have our 9th OL trip coming up soon. On our last trip I was even able to take a tux in the carry-on since I'm able to store so much in the locker.

It'll be interesting to see how quickly other airlines follow suit with the additional fees for the extra bags.

Ok so you have to pay a one time fee of $75 bucks... Then you pay $99 a year for ONE visit a year, $25 for each addtional visit OR pay $179 per year for umlimited visits...

I think Most people are better off paying the $25 bucks for an extra bag. (unless your a family of four that needs 8 suitcases, and travel more than once a year)

New to all of this and trying to get as much information as we can. Could you tell me what the "Owners Locker" is? Is this something you can rent that is ongoing after you leave? Is it available at all the DVC's? Thanks!

I like it. Hopefull this will result in more efficient airport operations and less waiting for luggage. I've never needed to travel with more than one checked bag per person. :cool1:

Does the Owner's Locker go to Vero Beach?

Take a look at OwnersLocker.com.

Currently the service is available only in the Orlando area. They provide climate controlled storage for a large storage box (and can also store other items) and will deliver it to your Orlando-area resort and then pick it up and return it to storage when you leave. Their system is very well organized and users get email confirmation when the locker has been delivered to the resort and again when it is safely back in the storage facility.

I don't travel with more than two bags (one a carryon)...and I don't fly United anyway.

You're speaking on a per person basis, correct? How much stuff does one person need on a trip to warrant 3 or 4 checked bags? I think I overpack as it is and I'd never come close :goodvibes !

The OL sounds like a great idea for those who travel to Orlando multiple times per year. We personally wouldn't benefit from it though :sad1:

Even if the other carriers follow suit, I don't need more than two bags. Ever.

As for what other persons need...whenever I am at WDW I see parties going in and out of the hotels with more luggage than the King of Morocco (not really, I've seen his luggage and nobody has more luggage than he did) so it is going to affect somebody. Just not me.

If you fly into MCO, John and Brian will meet you at the airport after you land to deliver your locker to you in person. When you leave, they will meet you at MCO to pick up your locker.

We did this last summer, and plan on this arrangement again when we go to VB this spring. It worked really well, and John and Brian are so accomodating (and nice!) Can't recommend them enough :cloud9:

I'm just curious. Where exactly did they meet you? Inside the airport? At parking lot near the airport?

On arrival, Brian met us inside the airport near baggage claim. He even saw a stray luggage cart and put our Locker on it :thumbsup2 So we were able to just take the luggage cart from him and throw our bags on top.

On departure, we were supposed to meet Brian at the rental car dropoff, but we didn't realize there was more than one dropoff  and we dropped our car off at the wrong one. Doh! :headache:

So once we figured out that mess (Us telling Brian we were at the dropoff, and him saying, but I don't see you  we can laugh about it now), he was so kind as to actually meet us at our airlilne check-in. Brian was actually at the correct dropoff. We weren't, and had to walk all the way to the other side of the airport (either B to A or A to B, can't remember now) to get to our airline check in.

So, shout out to Brian...Thanks again! We haven't forgotten how wonderful you were!

I am sure Owner's Locker is a great service for those who go multiple times a year--coming from the left coast--I will be lucky to get to WDW once or twice a year.

Has anyone shipped some of their luggage to the resort ahead of time? I will be traveling with an elderly person in a wheelchair and am concerned about handling the luggage and her at the same time, so was thinking if I could ship the bulk of our luggage to the resort, then we could just do carry-ons with essentials (like medicines etc.) and I wouldn't have to hassle luggage and pushing a wheelchair. Thoughts?

Thanks Mrs. Nick!

Now that I know how easy that MCO pick-up or drop-off is I might need to consider OL again.
