I"m about to make the plunge and buy into BLT and AKV. I was given the option of going back to Oct 08 for AKV UY and back to Feb 09 for BLT. We plan on taking most of our trips in Feb, Summer(if we HAVE too due to school) or early fall with one potential holiday trip every 3 to 4 years.

Should I stick with the same UY of Feb or April for both or might it be useful to have different UY since we might be all over the board in the years ahead with when we vacation.

Also, is getting O8 points significantly better than say a Feb/April '09?

As always, thanks everyone! Ya'll have been great.

Having two UY's will give you two separate master contracts and two different member #'s.

You won't be able to combine the points for a single night at the 7 month window without a transfer (ie: You need 35 points for a night and have 20 BLT left and 15 AKV left---you would have to make your one yearly transfer to use them to book that night).

Many who have different UY's like it. I have two of them and don't and am selling off one of them just to own all at BLT with the same UY. Personally, I think getting the Feb UY for both would make it much easier. Most of your trips, except those infrequent holiday ones, will fall in your banking window so it works nicely for you.

Good luck!!

If it were me, I would opt for the same UY for both contracts. I'm sure that many DVC members are very easily allowed to navigate their multiple UYs with no problems, but I would be afraid that I would miss something.

Since you have been offered 2008 points at AKV with an October UY (which is a fabulous perk, by the way), again if it were me, I'd try and get a BLT UY for October as well. A February UY for BLT isn't really going to do you any good this year in that BLT won't open until August anyway, so you can't travel until then (although you can go ahead and make reservations now for travel after August).

Something else to keep in mind about UYs - - just because your vacation habits are set now, in 10/20/30/40 years from now, they could be completely different. I think right now, the more important thing would be getting your 2008 AKV points - - that will essentially put you ahead of the points curve for many years.

Good luck! :goodvibes

I almost bought a different UY when we added points at VWL after our initial BWV purchase. Best advice I ever got from our guide was not to do it. We ended up added the same UY instead, and then also the same UY later on at AKV. It's hard enough to manage points at 3 different resorts without having different contracts/UY to worry about, too!

I have two different UY's. I actually prefer this, as I have most of the year covered for vacationing, and still have time to bank points if ressie's are cancelled. Also, one of my home resorts is a beach resort, and I preferred a certain UY for that specific resort. I would not, however, have more than two UY's.

We also have two UYs and think that it's a pain and we want to sell one UY just to make life easier. It's true that things may change in the future, but why not make the best UY decision based upon what you know now. We don't like to vacation during the warmer months and we will always love the holidays at the end of the year so we selected our preferred UY based upon that.

Good luck and have fun. :goodvibes
