Who's the larget money earning on YouTube? Apparently it's an unknown woman that posts videos of herself (showing only her hands) opening toys (most of which are Disney-related) on YouTube. It's estimated that her cut of partner ad revenue sharing in the last year was $4.9M! Nice work if you can get it! Link

Her most popular video is of her opening a package of Frozen-themed Play-Doh. It has almost 185 MILLION views!

Crazy! I actually watched her video on the Sofia the First Royal Prep Academy right after Christmas as I couldn't figure out one part of the directions.

There was another thread about this.

The article was based on assumptions/guesswork. YouTube does not release actual numbers about their AdSense revenue.

And I have a hard time believing this is correct, since she has less than 3.5 million subscribers. There are 19 YouTube channels with more than 10. There's no way she makes more AdSense money than they do.

Although I guess it's more about views than subscribers. Still, I don't buy it.

Funny, I searched on her channel name here, but didn't get any hits so I thought it was "news"! But you'd have to admit that even if it's only a quarter of what they computed, that's still a crazy amount of money. Also, given that she has 184+ million views for one video alone that will generate a heck of a lot of "nut"!

My bad. It was on the Disney News & Rumors board.

She does certainly make a lot of money. That's true. So she can still get rich.

I don't get it though. I don't understand unboxing or gaming videos.

and WHO sits and watches toys being unwrapped

Is it some kind of Fetish?:confused3:scared1:

Technology websites have been unwrapping the latest geeky tech stuff for years on videos, apparently it is very popular

This is my 4 year old!! She LOVES watching these stupid videos LOL My 6yr old doesn't get what her sister likes so much about it and neither do I :confused3

My 6 year old loves DisneyCollector! Honestly, I have to limit her to 5 videos or she'd watch them all day.

I'll admit, I always like to see what she has done with her nail polish. She has had some really cute designs. ;)

Here is a hysterical parody of DC.

Kids.:rotfl:

I have seen lists on Scary Mommy blog and Buzzfeed about what kids watch on Youtube. It's not just toys either but "Surprise Eggs".

So weird.

My cousin's daughter apparently loves watching YouTube videos of Kinder Eggs being opened. The last time we saw them, my husband had recently been in Europe and brought some back for our kids. We had one left over and gave it to her - she was over the moon!

Well thanks a lot OP, I just spent 12 minutes watching an anonymous woman with a singsongy preschool teacher voice make dresses out of Play Doh for little plastic princesses. It is oddly mesmerizing. But I can't believe just that one video has over 17 MILLION views!

I really wish Kinder Eggs were available here in the states. It makes me mad that the powers that be think our kids are too stupid to not eat the giant plastic toy capsule in the middle of the chocolate.

My kid prefers BluCollection. Rumor has it that he and their #1 YouTube earner are a married couple. I've heard some descriptions of these unboxing videos as "kiddie crack" for how additive it can be.

So, who the hell is Disney Collector? Best guess: a 43-year-old Brazilian woman who lives near DisneyWorld in Florida, whose husband produces a similar and also popular channel called BluCollection. True Disney diehards who’d like to be left alone while raking in a fortune, so it would seem.

I was on vacation in Asia with my family when my kid saw one at a convenience store and just had to have one. In that one the egg was plastic with two halves. One contained the toy while the other had a spoon and some sort of chocolate/goo combination. I think some countries have different requirements.

I'm afraid I don't understand the need to watch things like that.

It's mostly kids watching it, plus maybe their parents watching along. Now there might be the occasional adult collector, but they won't typically open toys because there was never an intent to play with them. Some of the toys I got for my kid on eBay were sold at great prices because they were out of package or because the package wasn't perfect.
