5th inning of the Yankees-Red sox game -- a seven run Yankee lead and a chance for more....

OK, let's not tempt fate. The Red Sox came back the other night, granted not from quite the same deficit, but they still nearly won. This is only the 6th (maybe 7th?) inning and it's been hard fought on both sides.

That said, go Yanks!!

YANKEEEEES!!!!

Hey, this is my 1000th post!! Yay me!

So we will be the first baseball team in history to come back from a 3 game deficit........ imagine how bad the Yankees are going to feel when they blow a three game lead..

KEEP THE FAITH.......... GO SOX :Pinkbounc

That's the kind of faith Boston has for the Sox. Giving up on the game well before the last out. 9 run deficit with 3 outs available. Sorry Boston, but NY will have another parade this year.

Too bad I'll probably be in WDW when they have it!

Better luck next century!

Wow how embarrassing for Boston..Yankees are just spanking them every time they turn around. I am from NY but was actually hoping that Boston would win because I feel so sorry for them...they are pitiful!
This is a perfect arguement as to why they should not have "wildcards" only the best should be in the series!

Oh man! Let's be realists here! The two best teams, all season long, were Boston and NY. Wildcards have nothing to do with Boston going in the dumper! If I remember correctly, NY got the spanking of a lifetime from Cleveland not too long ago. Which broke all kinds of yankee records for futility. Did that mean that NY shouldn't have been in the playoffs? NY's pitching has been suspect all year, should that have been a pre-requisite for not making the playoffs? This is a game of up and downs, streaks and slumps. Fortunately for yankee fans, the pitching turned around for them and, unfortunately, went south for the Red Sox. A pitching staff the was head and shoulders above NY's. Streaks and slumps, ups and downs, baby! Not wildcards!
And please, no pity here!

Rooting for the Red Sox just strengthens my resolve and makes me appreciate more important things, like my family!

Anyhow, I am a realist and football has season officially started for me! Go Bills!!! Awww, man!!!

DH says almost that (when does football start) every year around the all-star break about his precious Mets. Can you imagine the turmoil in our house when they had the subway series? He is rooting for the Sox now, just b/c he's sick of me gloating every year!

Thanks for facing the truth.

I live in Yankee territory but I am an Indians fan.

I want the BoSox to beat the Yanks just so I don't have to hear the people at work gloat about it for who knows how long. There are a couple of Red Sox fans at work, and myself with another Indians fan, and all the Mets fans have been hoping for a Red Sox win.

Can a miracle happen?

Speaking of when the Yanks got clobbered by the Indians, that was such a wonderful day. :)

You know, this is way you're supposed to feel about your team. Kudos to you for keeping the faith. (I really mean this. I'm not being sarcastic.)

What amazed me last night was seeing Johnny Damon on the post-game show (YES network, I'm sure it was on in Boston, too.)
After all the boasting he did prior to the series, I think he owed it to Red Sox Nation to come out and say, "Yeah, we know that no one has ever come back from 0-3 but last year we were down 0-2 to the A's and we came back to win the series. I know we can do it again." Instead, he came across as completely defeated. Even if that is the feeling in the clubhouse you can't come across like that to the fans. JMO.

Go Yankees! Finish the job tonight.

What's the payroll difference between the Sox and Yankees?
Like 30 or 60 million dollars? It's nice to be the best team MONEY can buy, but it lacks heart.
I can say thing, if the Yanks were down 2-0 last night, there would never be the fan support I saw for the Sox last night at Fenway Park. Yes, I was there:sad:

That said, we also have a Catch-22. If the Sox DID win the World Series, the It's Time To Build A New Fenway Park talk would start. And that would kill me. But, without more seats and more $$, the Sox will never have that huge payroll, thus never affording that extra great pitcher and power hitter....

I still love ya Bronson Arroyo!

I even shared a blanket with a Yankees fan. It was COOOLD!!!

I'm sorry, I know you are bummed out by the losses but I disagree with some of your assesments. We have a family tradition of Yankees fans that spans at least three generations now with the fourth just getting into it, I remember my Great-Grandma sitting in her rocking chair listening to the games religiously. There are guys on this team that I feel I know b/c I've watched them play for so many years: Williams, Jeter, Posada, Rivera, Hernandez. I love Joe Torre, the man is pure heart and 100% class-act. I love how my boys *usually* look and act professionally, in the great tradition of baseball players such as Lou Gehrig. I've watched this team through the many good years but was also there cheering during the bad years too. I'm sorry, but the family tradition of Yankees Fans spans decades and the love for the pin-stripes runs deep in many households.

The reason that the Yankees are able to get the talent that they get is 1) The team wins and has won for years. That guarantees attendance which in turn guarantees money to pay for the athletes. 2) Joe Torre is the greatest Manager 3) Most ball players work hard so they can get a chance to play for Baseball's most legendary team 4) and love him or hate him, Steinbrenner is a brilliant business-man.

Sorry, I'll get off my soap box LOL!

You don't have to love the Yanks. A lot of people don't. But I'm really tired of hearing about the money. It takes time to build a great empire and it takes great fans. I respect the Red Sox, I respect the Red Sox fans. And as a Giants fan I know what it's like to wait for the big game to arrive and see it pass you by each year. :(

It's not over yet and I still believe.......Go Sox !!!! :thewave: :thewave: :thewave: :thewave:

I agree.

Stienbrenner would never let Curt Schilling pick the team’s manager. Francona is making Grady Little look good.
