FREMONT, Calif. - A pack of angry Chihuahuas attacked a police officer who was escorting a teenager home after a traffic stop, authorities said.

The officer suffered minor injuries, including bites to his ankle, Detective Bill Veteran said.

The five Chihuahuas escaped the 17-year-old boy's home and rushed the officer in the doorway Thursday, authorities said. The teenager had been detained after the traffic incident.

The officer was treated at a hospital and returned to work less than two hours later.


I don't know about you, but I have trouble with the concept of Chihuahuas runnin's in packs.

My DH made it back from Viet Nam without a scratch and was bit by his aunt's chihauhau the week he got home. He was really ticked off at that dog.

That is too funny!!! It always astounds me that it's the little dogs that end up at the top of the list for dog bites every year. The Assoc. of Realtors keeps a list of dog bites and it seems like dachsunds top it every year. Weird!

I would love to see a video of that attack, it would probably win on "Funniest Home Videos".
Chihuahua's are VERY protective of their owners. Mine growls if he thinks I'm threatened. He has really bad teeth though, so if he ever actually bit anyone a tooth would probably stay in their leg!

Little dogs do tend to be very protective of family though. I used to have a Lhasa Apso who made dating very hard on me.
