What are your thoughts on if the Annual Passport (AP) will go up by the end of May?

I want to get a 6 day park hopper so I can use the Magic Morning but then upgade to an AP on the final day. My only problem with this is wondering if the AP's might go up in price by then because then I would just get the AP and forget the Magic Morning.

Any thoughts on this would be helpful. The last time I could find that the AP's went up was in June or July of 2011 so it looks like it might be time for a price increase....thanks in advance for all the help!

Rumor I heard is that a price increase will likely happen as early as April/May. Most likely before DCA is done.

Usually when the prices are about to go up word is out on the internet about 3-5 days prior. So really what you have to do is check every few days to buy in advance, or skip the MM and buy ahead anyway.

Thanks guys, you are so great!

Now just to make the right decision, lol

My guess is that it would be sometime after the current promo tickets expire, but before June 15.

They've done increases while a promo (5 for 3 for example) has still been in effect. The promo tickets were unaffected by the price increase.

Why are you going to wait for the last day to upgrade? You can upgrade anytime after you use the MM. Remember, AP holders get discounts that guests with park hoppers do not, it may be worth it to upgrade sooner, unless you're going on a black out day. Just a thought......
Also, if you have a promo ticket price you will lose the discount when you upgrade.

I guess the real question is, what is a MM worth?

I have never done a MM so I guess I dont know what I am missing....is it really all that great?

I dont really know if I am willing to take the chance in having to pay more for an AP just to use the MM on the 6 day pass :confused3

What are the days you are going? Current MM days are T & S days, so Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. If you're going to get there with one of these earlier in the trip then by all means use the MM! :) It's really fun, we were able to do all of FL and we were also able to get FP for Space right as the park opened, in fact we were standing at the machines waiting when they came online, and the girls rode it right away with no wait. They loved that. lol Also, are you staying on site? If so one of the perks is you get MM each day it's offered, so if you do stay on site then just get an AP right off the bat. For us, buying park hoppers and then upgrading means 1 of 2 things, we are pre-paying for a portion of the AP's and if we are getting Deluxe AP's and will be dealing with black out dates we upgrade on that day and don't have to pay the fee. :)
It should also be noted that if you purchase your AP voucher today and the price goes up prior to your first use (which activates the AP) you may be asked to pay the difference.

If there's a price increase, MM really isn't worth it. BUT look at block out days. That would be worth getting a PH first and upgrading on your last block out day.

No black out days on our Sun-Thu trip so no needto get a park hopper for that reason. I think I am just going to get the AP before they go up and just do a MM at another time. Thanks again for the help!

We are going May 20-25th so no blackout days on our trip. We are not staying on site because I cant seem to find a good deal on a hotel room so we are staying at the Best Western PPI across the street. Thanks for the advice and taking the time to respond :)

What is the average increase? I am going in May and was thinking about buying in now that I got my tax money back.

I think the last increase was over $40 so when it goes up it really goes up. Thats why I was thinking it might be best to buy now and not wait for the price increase but we really dont know if it will go up. Depending on the trends from Disneyland it looks like it should go up soon....

If you are staying onsite, you can still use MM with an AP. I am not sure how else you get MM these days though, so I am not sure if that still works with your method.

Really? Then why was there such buzz here last year about the increase and everyone rushing to buy the vouchers (with no intention of activating them for months) before the increase? Sounds like some useless busywork if they were just going to make you pay the current price anyway. And what's the point of selling a voucher if they have the right to add to the price? If I had bought one and they asked me to pay extra, I'd have been livid!

Are you just referring to if you buy a voucher and then try to redeem after the expiration date on it?

Last year we bought our vouchers in June and did not redeem them until August. We did not pay extra. Those vouchers had expiration dates of 12/31/11. Perhaps if we had held on to them and tried to use them after that expiration date, we would have been required to pay the difference between what we paid and the AP price at time of redemption.

Yes, sorry, should have mentioned the expiration date. :) If the voucher expires prior to your activation then you are required to pay the difference in price. I apologize that I did not make that clear in my previous post. :)
