Hey Folks,
First: SORRY for my bad english, but there aren't any good germany boards to share disney-dreams. So that's why I try to do that here.
Last Tuesday me (21) and my girlfriend (22) came back from our 1week Disney World Vacation. After reading a lot about Disney World, being there for just 2 days last year off-property and thinking about it all day, we booked a one week vacation there at a travel agent here in Germany.
Travel Agencys in Germany don't know much about Disney World, so we weren't really well informed about things like the Dining Plan which we didn't have or restaurant-reservations.
But I read about the reservations and that you have to do them if you want to eat in a nice restaurant. So I got a table in the Crystal Palace, 50's Prime Time Café and Princess Storybook Dining.
The travel to the USA was horrible. Flying is so boring and we hat a stop in Detroit. So another 2 1/2 hours flying. Oh, we were so bored, couldn't sleep, didn't know what to do. Just sat there, talking nonsense.
We arrived very late in Orlando and were the only 2 guests on the magical express. That was another thing, we weren't informed about the Express and I had to do that for myself again. While doing that, the system wanted a Confirmation-Number which I wasn't able to find on my german confirmation-papers. So I just typed in 1-2-3. The CastMembers on the Magical-Express Desk were very friendly and they found us in the list. So we entered the huge and thankfully totally empty queue for the express and headed forward to the All Star Sports Resort.
What a nice hotel. We only saw 2 or 3 pictures on the internet and read some "normal" reviews. It was very nice, the rooms were nice and clean, the mouskeeping did its best, the service was excellent, the In-Room-Dining-Service was great. But, my dear, you americans. What you eat for breakfast. Thats disgusting. Sandwiches with chips. Croissant with egg and bacon. I know that there is a huge difference between German and US food, but I havent hat such bad breakfast in all my life. But: We did the best und just felt like americans and ate all this food
. You don't have bread, just bagels with tons of Butter in it. When you enter the Food-Courd, you smell the Butter. Yurks.
Every morning we jogged 1 hour around the hotel and to the other all star hotels, to avoid getting too fat
. Diet Coke for breakfast, I still have to think about that mistake I did every morning ;-).
Well the Souvenir Mugs are a great thing. We directly bought them when we arrived. We had a room in the 3rd Floor Home Run Hotel, which was a long walk to the food court and entrance, but well, no problem. In this one week the temperatures were very high and it was so humid. We were shocked every morning when we left our hotel room and we couldnt' move because we were afraid to start sweating, but ok, we got used to it and everything worked fine
.
We visited all parks, waterparks and Disney Quest. And the Universal Studios/IOA. We went shopping in the Premium Outlets and visited a Waffle House, to wich we were recommended by an exchange student here in Germany
.
The parks were not too crowded. We started on the 6th in the Magic Kingdom and we had no waits in the first 2 hours. Than only 10 minutes or less.
One evening we were in the Hollywood Studios and it was very crowded. Had to wait 80 minutes for Toy Story, 70 for the Rock'n'Roller Coaster and 20 for the Tower of Terror. Whe we were there one day later, there were no crowds and we were happy to ride all those crazy rides a thousand times!
Our favourite park was Epcot. It is so beautiful. And the rides are great. One day the wait-time sign for Test Track said 120 Minutes. We got in the queue and had to wait exactly 0 minutes, we were directly in a briefing room. Nice
Like already said above, we had 3 dining reservations I made some weeks ago by telephone. It is so hard for Germans, even if you were good in school in english, to understand you americans. All those R's. R R RR .. Every R is ha very hard R. RRRRR
. My favourite words: Contemporary Resort. So much R's in 2 words. Great
. We only understand: R R RR R RR. And then I had to make the reservations with only understanding RR RR R R. But it worked.
The first we had lunch in the Crystal Palace on Tuesday. It was loud, but we were so busy with eating, that we only concentraded on the food. It was very good. We were seated 2 minutes after checking in. We did pictures with Winnie Pooh and his friends. Nice memories
The second reservation was in the 50's Prime Time Cafe. Lunch again on Wednesday. We had so much fun in this restaurant. They had a german Menu, because it's very hard for us to read and understand the "Kitchen-Words". We can't imagine anything
. The food was very tasty and we had a nice Sundae-Dessert. Wow! The server was very nice to us.
The third reservation was on Sunday Evening in the Storybook Dining in Epcot. This was VERY expensive. Wow! But the food was nice and we made some great photos with the princess. The location is very nice, too. When we came out, the fireworks started. After that we went to the Magic Kingdom until 1 am for the extra-magic hours. It was a little bit crowded, but we only rode Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain and the waits were not very long, just a few minutes.
It was a very nice week. We love the USA and you american people. It seems that you like Germany. When we said that we are from Germany, the most common things americans we heard were: German Autobahn without speed-limit, Krombacher Beer, Kinder-Überraschung, Volkswagen, Gothic Cathedral in Cologne and it seems that everyone in the USA has got a german grandmother!
We had so much fun, the Cast Members were all so friendly, it wasn't too expensive because of the good $-exchange-rate. But it was very hard to, because of the long walks and the heat. We will definitely come back in some years!
