You can buy boxed spaetzle made by Maggi at most grocery stores. You cook it like pasta (Though I'm not sure how you'd keep it warm...)
Apple strudel can be made with Pepperidge Farms pastry.
My kids actually love my sauerkraut--the key is to rinse, rinse, rinse so it's not so sour!
German potato salad would be easy enough.
Most kids wouldn't touch a lot of the German foods I ate while growing up--lots of organ meats, wursts, cabbage...
Don't forget the rye bread!
Mahlzeit! :sunny:

Weinersnitzel is not German but Austrian.
One of my favorite treats was whipped cream in sugar cones. So good.
Spaetzle is good also as well as any of the wurst. Bratwurst, Weisswurst, Knockwurst, etc. If you have a German Deli in your area you will be set. Also German potato salad, or potato pancakes.
Kielbasa not German.
You are so right I for got about the "Wein"...being Vienna :goodvibes
