Geriatric mm warriors (12/30/09)

Cindy - I just posted in response to Lisa's post. Free T3 & Free T4. I'm glad you love your juicer! Keep posted on what you are juicing.

Thanks Kate!

Yesterday we tried another smoothie. It had apple, carrot, cucumber, an orange and grapes in it. He really liked this one!! (don't put too many carrots in or it will overpower the rest of the drink) :) SOOO good!!!

I forgot to mention that I tried something new! The rice paper wraps - the ones that are almost translucent. I bought them at a local asian market. Last night I sauteed some veggies with tofu and tamari. I wrapped them up in the wrappers and we dipped them in peanut sauce! Yumm! Today, I am going to make some for my lunch with red bell pepper, cucumber, avocado, arugula, sprouts, and tahini. The carb count in the wrappers is minimal and for some reason, it makes eating something that you might eat all of the time (veggies) taste different!

WOW!! That sounds delicious! I'm going to check my Wegmans and see if they have these!

Morning ladies. We are still waking up way too early. I had a really bad headache yesterday - bad enough that I came home from my office at about noon and then slept most of the afternoon. I don't usually do that. I think the headache is gone...

Lisa - how are the modifications to your eating plan working out?

Have a good day!

Hi everyone. A beautiful sunny morning here. A little chilly, but sunny!!

Kate, I'm glad Chloe is home. Is this spring break? Sorry if you already answered that one. My mind has been a bit foggy lately. I hope your headache is gone for good too. Might be from the time change and losing that hour of sleep.

Cindy, thank you for the info on the T3 and T4. I have all my paperwork in the van to get the blood work done, so I'll see if he has it marked to the free T3,T4.
If I don't leave it in the van, I'll lose it here in the house LOL. My OB couldn't request the tests, so when I go back to the doctor next month, I'll make sure he does if he didn't already. I am going to read my adrenal fatigue book and see what tests Dr. Wilson suggests also.
I was talking to my brother on FB and he is having the same issues as me. I told him what all I've been doing. Not sure if he has a decent health food store down by him in TN let alone a holistic person to go to. I may have to try to research it for him. He may not do it. He loves his junk food and sugar, and I told him to get rid of the sugar first.
Thanks again!!

Not much going on today. I managed to catch Mike's cold. It feels as though it's settling in my chest :(
I was going to get my blood work done this morning as I didn't eat after 7:30 last night and that would give me my 12 hour fast. Then I remembered I took nyquil around 10 last night. One of the tests is for diabetes, and I know the nyquil would show up.

Ok, going to start some housework. I really need to get this house in shape!! I have a bunch of Easter baskets in the basement I need to take to Goodwill. May do that today.
I'll catch up later!!

Kathy - Lisa and Kate had the info...not me. I needed it :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. The sun is shining so it should be a good one. Still holding at 169. Feeling great! What is it going to take to lose this last 10-15 lbs?

Hi everyone. Good to hear the suggestions your talking about with the food. Everyone seems to be growing and getting stronger with what works.

I'm imperfectly doing step two. My weight is slowly going down, and my size is slowly going down. I'm in the high 280's now. Pretty good from starting at 364. It seems rather slow, but I think that is a good thing. The weight loss in the first couple of months was so dramatic, and that's probably why it seems slow. It's almost like I'm maintaining a smaller size, but then I look at a picture from Christmas, and I think I haven't lost any fat since then but then I look and there is a huge difference in the way my body is shaped.

I'm going through a period of personal and spiritual growth, and it's causing ******* in my home. I'm in tremendous pain over that. I'm not behaving like I always did, I'm becoming empowered. It's very difficult living under strain. Probably spiking stress hormones which isn't good. I've had to put off nursing school with this semester at my old college, but I'm still hoping to be matriculated for the class that starts in August.

Well, I think that's everything. I know I haven't been around. I'm trying to find a balance with school, working this plan... well everything. I think it will be good for me to come in here more. Love you guys. (girls)

Nell: It's soooooo good to see you back! It's not the same without you here! You look beautiful. The ones who love us sometimes feel insecure when we change. They need reassurance that we still love them. It was very hard on me when I was still in college as a newlywed. Really bad decision to get married before I was finished, but it all worked out. He was jealous of the time I had to spend in study groups.

I think Tom might get jealous of my work mates from time to time, but I just go on talking about everyone so he knows I have nothing to hide. I make sure and tell him about their wives and kids, too.

I'm having more fun with my newest client than anyone I've ever worked with. I've been giving him lists of things to do around the house, as well as documents I need. I told him for a few weeks I'm like his wife, and it will be the only time in his life he will have a wife, lol! He laughed so hard! Every day we have a new joke about it. Tom is tolerant although he probably doesn't find it as funny as I do. My client says "Whatever you say, wifey". I told him he learned that very quickly, lol! We're going to look at more houses today. I sold his place before it went on MLS! It was the ranch in the foothills. He's the one that I helped find a home for his sheep before we could list his house. We've become very good friends. He's retired now and has a boatload of antiques. I'm trying to get him to simplify. Oh, he's also putting in his will that I will take his dog if anything happens to him. He was working on his will when I fell in love with his dog. People like that make me love my job.

Have a beautiful day, everyone! It's GORGEOUS here! My wisteria has buds!

Lisa, a woman with 2 men. WOW!! :worship: LOL. I am glad you found someone who can make you laugh. It's nice to have friends like that. I hope Tom comes around a bit for you. One thing I never have to worry about with Mike. He's not the jealous type. We are both huge flirts LOL. We always had such a blast at Lowes.
Sun is still shining here and it's almost 50*! Feeling a bit tired, but I'm fighting it. I'll take a nap in a bit. Got a little bit of cleaning done, but not much. Doing some research on adrenal fatigue and reading Dr. Wilson's book, Adrenal Fatigue. Almost too tired to comprehend though.

Nell, so good to see you. Missed you being around. I will be praying for you and your situation. Really stinks when you can feel yourself growing and the ones we love just don't understand it. They just need to realize that we still love them, and that would never change.
Sorry about school. It's great that you haven't decided not to do it as opposed to just delaying it a bit.
Sending you some hugs..

Hi Folks....I know Missing in Action again...OMG, our computers had crashed at work on Saturday, so when I came back in to the office yesterday, my computer had lost all my "favorites", all my logins and passwords!! I had to wait for disboards to reset my password and finally got back...wow, this is getting to be such a project! lol, good thing I LOVE my MM's!!! I havent worked this hard in a long time!

Will try to catch up on posts later, but notice Nell is back, so thats a good thing! We missed you girl! Dont disappear on us again!

Lisa - I think it was you that mentioned I hadnt talked about Ken lately...lol, I am still MAD and he is still NOT HOME, so I have no idea what is going on, and intend to stay in that funk with him for as long as I have to or until he returns and explains to me what is going on...I have decided to take friends up on their offers to "set me up" with others and just leave it all in God's hands!

Nell - Good to hear from you! I'm sorry things are difficult right now. Try to keep a positive mind. You look so young & cute in your pic. Take care of yourself, you deserve the best.

Robin- What a pain with the computers. How was your date the other night?

Lisa - It's nice that you have such a great client.

Kate - I hope your head feels better!

It is beautiful outside today. The whole week looks like it will be great. Saturday it's supposed to reach 70! :cheer2:

I'm going to have Indian food for the first time tonight. My son loves it and I've never tried it. I looked at the menu online and it looks like I'm going to order Chicken Tikka Masala. It sounds okay - not too spicy, I hope.

I second Kathy's sentiment! Life's too short and it's in God's hands anyway, LOL! Enjoy meeting people! At least you have learned that you are open to love again, whether it be Ken or someone else. :woohoo:

Lisa, I think it's wonderful that you have made such a friend. I'm glad for you. :)

Cindy, your smoothie's sound good. I'm going to the store in a short while to pick up some baking cocoa. I love to smother my veggies in cocoa, lol.

I like the idea of putting veggies into a wrap. Especially stir fried peppers. Sounds really good.

Kathy, it's really great that Mike and you are both so secure in your relationship. It's priceless when that happens in a partnership.

Pony, I'm glad you've decided to let god figure things out. There really is no other choice in the end, is there?

It's really good to read all of you. I'll try and come back tonight again. :grouphug:

Tom's not really jealous any more Kathy, but I do my best to drop things into the conversation to reassure him, just in case. I work around a lot of good looking men in suits, if you know what I mean. I could see how he could worry, if I gave him reason to. I never look at other guys, though, and he knows that. I won't even turn my head if they whistle on the road. He knows that from personal experience, lol! He tried to get my attention once and I ignored him, LOL! Didn't see it was him.:lmao:

Kate: Shredded carrot is good in those Thai wraps, too. Endless possiblities! I love edamame. We ate it like crazy when we went for sushi the other night. I guess too much soy is bad, but we don't have it too often. It's great in salads.

I'm not sure what edamame is, but I have read that traditional fermented tofu products don't have the same effects on the hormonal system that other soy products have.

Indian food report - EWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Not for me!! I ate a little of it to be polite, but yuk! My son enjoyed it, so it wasn't a total loss.

I went for a walk on the track tonight - the first time in a long time that the weather permitted it!! It felt so nice to be outside walking. I waited a little too long to leave and it got a little too dark, so I only walked 2 times around (1/2 mile). Tomorrow I'll get there earlier. I like later in the season when it starts to get dark and the moon rises over the mountain. You can see it peeking and as you go around each time it's up a little more. Little things entertain me!
