Starting January 1, 2010 you get an extra $200 added on to a speeding ticket in Georgia if you get pulled over going over 75mph on 2 lane or fewer roads and 85mph on multi lane roads. Since so many travelers use I-75 and I-95 to get to Orlando this can affect you.

Of course nobody drives that fast on the Interstates but they estimate raising $200 million dollars in the first year from all of those non-speeding drivers :rotfl2:

 It is so easy to get caught speeding on I-95 through Georgia, it is a straight open run with few turns, and unless you out on cruise control, you can easily find yourself going way faster than you thought you were going.

I have three rules of thumb, always make sure someone is going faster than I am, never be last in the line of cars moving at a fast clip, and set my cruise control no more than 8 mph above the posted speed limit.

This has worked for me so far, hopefully, it still works to keep me ticket free.

We drive to Orlando via I-75 2-4 times/year. We set the cruise control to 78mph and have never been pulled over.

My one and only speeding ticket (knock on wood) was in 1974 for 42 in a 30...cost me $17 including court fees. I use the same tactics as DisneyNutMary with cruise control no more than 7 or 8 MPH higher than posted limit and make sure others are always going faster than me. Go get 'em!

With my lead foot I think its a good thing I prefer to fly long distances...
