Hi to all!!

Giving college daughter our George Foreman grill and looking to replace it with one of the new ones that have the removable grill plates (NOT the one with the 5 different plates) - GRP4P or GRP99.

Anyone try these and what do you think? Really like the idea of being able to remove the plates and throw them in the dishwasher.

Also any offerings on who sells them for the best price?

Thanks!! Appreciate any information.

No, I was wondering about those as well :confused3Is your daughter living in a dorm? Are you sure that is allowed?

I have the old Foreman grill and I just love it. I use it all the time-it makes the best hamburgers and it's so easy.

I always wanted to get one of the ones with removable plates. I was hoping to get one for Christmas, but I didn't. I think your DD would like one. It cooks anything-even vegetables. Walmart was where I felt I got the best deal.

Daughter is living in a 4 bdr. university apartment with full kitchen so yes she can have one. Roommate graduate this December and took it home with her:):)

They are not allowed in a regular dorm room.

Thanks - Have a Magical Disney Day!!

do any of the George Foreman grills have an auto shutoff...for people who forget they are cooking something?

This is the 1 I have- http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=13387389&RN=692&

I love it! I had the old one and hardly ever used it because it was such a pain to clean. I have put the plates in the dishwasher and they came out fine, I usually just wash them in the sink though. I love that you are able to set the temp and the timer. I used this 1 more in a month than I ever used the older model.

I'm pretty sure this 1 turns off automatically after 20 minutes.

I think $99.99 is a standard price for it, I've never seen it for less but it won't hurt to look.

Thanks for the info......how many burgers can you put on a 96 inch square surface?

My husband really likes those frozen patties from Sam's Club which are pretty wide while frozen, I usually only fix 2 at a time but I'd say probably 6 of them, 4 for sure would fit.

We have the $60.00 one that has the removable plates and let me just say, I don't know how we lived before!! I absolutely love mine!! Now we just pick the plates up and get the 'gunk' off and throw them in the dishwasher! Best $60.00 I've spent in a long time!

Yes, the one I have has a timer and temperature control, along with the removable plates. I love my Foreman grill and I use it all the time. I rarely put the plates in the dishwasher though. I just hand wash them, which is really easy when they are removable.

I have the older one. We love it, but it's a pain to clean. Laying a wet papertowel in it as soon as we've unplugged it helps, but not enough.

Now I want one with removable plates!

I love mine. I had the old "family" size but it was good for a family of ants! I had to get the bigger one. I think it is the Max I paid only 39 for it last year. over 130 sq inches. My son asked for one for Christmas and I was lucky I got the 130 in PLUS the rotisserie in a pack at Khol's for 50 total. THEN I found out about the one with the plates. It will not be long before I get the one with the plates.

YOU can do just about anything on it except a roast. I love to make grilled pannini sandwiches. All I can say is if you do not have one then get one.

I have the older version too......and I do the paper towels and then it usually comes off quickly.......BUT I want the new one too now.......those sound neat..

I have a small one w/out the removeable plates. Hardly use it because it's such a pain to clean and I can't control the temp. I like my burgers thicker and it burns the outsides before the middle cooks. I do like it for grilling salmon, but since it's so hard to clean I can't ever seem to get the "fish" smell off of it. Haven't used it in two years, good thing it was a gift!

Maybe I'll give the new ones a try. Or maybe not, I don't mind cooking on my stove or broiler, and it's just one more appliance to take up space!

I was fed up w/ the cleaning process and went looking for one of the removable plate grills about 6 months ago. What I ended up w/ was a Hamilton Beach w/ removable plates rather than a George Foreman brand. It was about half the price and I like that there is a timer. I got it at Target. I really like it and use it about 3 times per week as I dislike cooking so make enough for multiple meals each time I do cook.

I was looking into getting a Foreman and some of the reviews on Amazon are a bit unfavorable for the ones with removable plates.

I still might try it, though. I love the one we have. It's a hand-me-down from my sister. She beat the crap out of the non-stick coating and it's too small for my family of four, but I love it!

Just used our new one last night for hamburgers - it worked great. I used our old one a lot, so this one is sure to get a work-out! I really like the idea of the removable plates. That was the one draw-back to the original grill.
