Genie+ Do we all have to ride the same thing?

I’ve tried to read as much as I can on the Genie+ sticky but didn’t see this. We are a family divided. My two older kids are thrill junkies and would be happy to ride Mission Space Orange all day long. My youngest on the other hand thinks of Pirates of the Caribbean as the most intense kind of thrill ride because of the part where it drops a few feet. In the old days, I would book a fastpass for my husband and crazy twins on the roller coasters and such, while my youngest and I had a simultaneous fastpass on some kind of slow boat ride or dark ride. We all enjoyed our day and met up for meals or gaps between FP reservations.

Is this even possible for G+, or should I give up? I know the odds of getting the same return time for two different attractions will make this impractical. But I am asking simply whether it is literally possible: i.e., will it allow me to book separate G+ reservations for 2 people and 3 people or would it, after booking Dumbo for me and my youngest DS, stop me being able to book Space Mountain for my DH and older DSs because I can’t make another booking until the two of us tap into Dumbo or two hours passes?

Yes, you choose which G+ to purchase for each person. As you say, getting the times to be similar due to not being able to select a return time, will probably be the bigger challenge.

We’re doing this and I’m not concerned at all. If times don’t match up, so what? Each group goes and does their ride when it’s available and if the other group doesn’t have one at that time they ride a standby ride, have a snack, look in that rides souvenir shop, go to the bathroom etc. or heavens forbid, wait and relax and actually take in the atmosphere for 15 minutes if they have nothing else to do.
True, it may be a little more work as to figuring when each group is eligible to make another selection, but I’m definitely not concerned and although I have possibly an older group than yours as I have YAs, some days we will need to do this for parts of the day, and some not.

Because you don't want anything slowing you down when you are grabbing a good genie+ LL window, it is helpful to know that, if you are all eligible, you can book for all and then cancel a genie+ LL just for the 2 or 3 that will be looking for something else. When you hit cancel, the next screen asks who you are canceling for.

Two people can be logged in on your MDE and booking LLs.... you can divide up and have someone in each small group handling genie+ for that group. Even though we didn't really do it as much on our recent trip, I am a big believer in "divide and conquer" to make sure everyone has a fun day.
