"Generic" Mugs

I saw that photo yesterday. I don't know anything about them, but I'm guessing they will be used at all resorts, since it says they are confirmed to be currently at SSR and Pop Century - not a DVC resort. Maybe they rolled them out to just a few resorts as a test? Perhaps they are trying to eliminate all the confusion of reusing mugs by having a "generic" design that will be used at all resorts, but change frequently so as not to be reused trip after trip after trip? Those are just my guesses but I really have no idea. Interesting though.

Glad to see they are the kind that fit the cup holder in the car!

I have waaaaayyyyyy too many of the other kind!

Maybe they are switching to annual mugs instead of using resort-specific mugs. :confused3 That is nice if you stay at the same resort 2 years in a row because you'll get a new mug design instead of buying the same mugs you already own.

Any word about them being at the Beach Club??? I have bought the same mug 4 times in a row now??? Though I like them to say Beach Club

If this is the case it will be great for people, like myself, who usually split their stay. :thumbsup2

Heads up guys - handles are different colors for different resorts - we had a split stay just a few weeks ago and didn't realize we had different colored handles until we got home and our mugs didn't match!

I'm not sure how closely they check but . . . at least we know there is some small distinction.

:confused3

Acutally, I think the resorts all have different colored handles avaialable. I was reading on a dif thread that there was blue, black and green? all at POP..

Being able to use your mugs at the parks would be nice..even if they charge a small fee for refills.

In theory it would be nice, but I can't imagine us carrying our mugs all day at the parks.

I like it when mugs have different colored handles at each resort because then each family member can tell at a glance which mug belongs to which person.

We'll have to wait and see if the YOAMD mugs show up at all of the resorts. I hope they make their way to POR before our trip so we don't have to buy the same mugs we already own. :thumbsup2

We just got back from a split stay at Pop Century and Fort Wildreness Cabins. Pop had the generic mug, there were 3 or 4 different colored handles on them.

Although MOST people were using a different version that wasn't on sale at the time, they had "Pop Century" on them and different designs. I'm guessing these were purchased on previous trips and brought back.

I hate this idea. Part of the fun is getting a new mug at each resort you stay at. These new mugs are pointless.

This may be slightly off topic but when we go, there are 6 of us, we use wine glass charms on the handles of our cups to tell them apart. They usually come in paks of 6, each one different. It works like a charm...pun intended.

DL doesn't have refillable resort mugs, but we got a deal w/AAA that gave us refillable souvenir mugs that could be refilled for free at specific restaurants (Red Rockett's Pizza Port, Rancho del Zocalo, and...some place in DCA). Although it was a great idea, it ended up being a huge hassle to haul them around the parks. We used them a couple of times in MK, then just started carrying one, then stashed it in a locker on our DCA day, and when we were near the place that offered free drink refills, the mug was in the locker near the entrance of the park! So, good idea, but didn't really work well for us.

So does anyone know if they have these at ALL resorts yet or just the previously mentioned? I am at the BC in May - I am trying to decide if we should buy mugs- I only drink water (I have migraines and can't drink soda) I am tired of buying the SAME BC mug that I have 4 of-

I'm also curious which resorts have the new mugs. So far I have only heard about:

SSR
OKW
POP

Can anyone confirm other resorts as well?:confused3
