We are thinking of buying a generator for camping at sites with no electric hook-up some day, does anyone have any idea what size generator we should look for to run the ac and microwave??

Thank you

If you plan to run both at the same time you probably will want at least a 4000 watt genset, a very good generator is the Honda EU3000i this is a 3000 watt genset and will run you ac, this is a super quiet genset with an inverter.

What type of camping equipment do you have?? most trailers are not equiped with a generator compartment.

Lori,
When are you planning your trip? We'll be arriving on 7/26 and have a site with full hookups and will not be using the Honda 3000eu I purchased last year! Perhaps we can work out a "test" drive for you.

We have a 28' Dutchmen and have no problem running the air or Microwave. Cant run both at the same time as the Honda doesn't have the juice for that much of a load. No big deal as we just shut down the air for the short period we may need the Microwave.

We are not going to FW until Dec. 2004. We want to buy a generator in case we stop somewhere to rest on the long drive down. I think we are either going to go with 2 2000w and hook them together or go with the 5000W. We really wont be camping without electric but there is one site my husband is insisting on going and they dont have power. I need my air!!
Thanks for the information.

We have the 4000W in our camper & we can run the A/C, microwave & fridge all at the same time with no problem. Nearly all the newer campers have compartments for them now-a-days. We went for it when we got the camper (2001) since we didn't want to worry about the expense later on... & they sure are expensive!...but worth it!

Air in December? :teeth:

What part of WI are you from????
Glad to see another local from WI.
When we pull are camper down we say at a hotel for the night.
We stop some where in GA. Drive 12- 14 hrs 1st day, then the next
day is a short one.

We're from Ashland, WI (way north on Lake Superior). We've only drove once and it took us about 29 hours. Going to FW the first time in Dec. 2004---Cant wait, hearing good things about the campground.
