Hi I am hoping to buy points for next december but had a couple of questions.I have looked at the point charts for AKLV and OKW as I like these two the best.Is it possible to check out on a friday and check back into the same or a different resort on the sunday?Do renters mind doing this or is it not something that is usually done. Also I would like the DDP which I know the renter books but do we have to buy the disney park tickets as well in order to get the DDP like you have to in the disney resorts (buy a one day base),or can I buy them independentley. We are hoping to buy into DVC in a couple of years but both myself and DH are student nurses so we have to watch our pennies:cloud9: Is it best to book asap or is there availibility nearer the date?I think for AKLV I would need to find someone who has it as a home resort but going in december I am not sure how busy DVC are.
thanks
in advance:love:

pt costs are much higher on fri-sat, so DVC members will sometimes/often move offsite or to value accomodations for the weekend. i don't think it would be all that unusual for a renter.

Also I would like the DDP which I know the renter books but do we have to buy the disney park tickets as well in order to get the DDP like you have to in the disney resorts (buy a one day base),or can I buy them independentley.

there is no ticket requirement while using DVC points. you are on your own for tickets. do have the member set up the DDP with the reservation ahead of time, though.

DVC in december is busy: pt costs are down and the lights/decorations are up. OKW probably doesn't require 11 month booking but some room categories at AKV almost certainly will require all 11 months. if you're not that picky, you may be able to wait till 7 months. but if you have firm plans earlier than that, i'd suggest going ahead and getting the reservation rather than taking a chance. (if things are pretty booked up at 7 months or later, owners often won't bother calling MS or dealing with potential wait-list situations for a renter...it's not worth the time and effort at that point.)

Thankyou chalee
We have a date set as the 11th december to fly back on the 24th.The other question I forgot to ask is that on the points chart it says you can rent for a week. When does the week run from?Is it Sun-Sat or is it done from the day you arrive which in our case would be a thursday. So many questions but I want to be prepared:woohoo:

I DVC terms, a week is 7 consecutive days no matter which is your first day. If you are talking about THIS December, it is probably too late, as there is very little available now, and if you are thinking studio, I'm sure that will be the most difficult to secure at this late date. You may have to find someone who has the exact dates already booked and are renting them out.
