General Disney Store Question

Not sure if this belonged here or more budget board or other so move as needed, thank you.

Anyway, I was at my local mall Disney Store for the 6am Force Friday opening (Worked Thursday 5am-2pm, stood at Target until midnight, went to mall at 1am and waited til 6am) and before they opened they did a little opening ceremony where they took two kids in line and had them "use the force" to make a book like up before letting people in.

1. Is this a regular everyday thing at Disney Stores?

2. I would guess most days (especially now its school season) there are not kids waiting in line to get into a Disney store at opening. Or many adults either. If the ceremony is a everyday thing what do they do when nobody is around?

Thanks

I wouldn't expect it's an every day thing. They force friday was quite the event everywhere so it was likely something just for that. I haven't been to many Disney store openings, but pretty sure I've been at least around a time or two when some have opened and recall nothing like that.

No that's not an everyday thing lol. That would've been a one time thing. You go to the Disney store any other day it's just like a regular store opening up. No special activities going on.

And wow at how long you waited in line for the Star Wars stuff. We had one local Target open up at midnight, then my Target did the usual 8am opening. But there weren't people lined up too far in advance. Still a ton of Star Wars stuff in stock. The Force Friday event could've been a lot bigger if stores would've advertised earlier and more about it

From work to bed I was up about 27 hours in a row. Target had about 200 people when it was all said and done for the midnight festivities. The Disney Store only had about 15 people at opening, more for the free pin then Star Wars fans.

While 27 hours is admittedly long for me (because of work), the waits themselves were nothing compared to the Black Friday's, Movie waits, and Amiibo Hunting I have done.

The opening ceremony for the Force Friday was only for Force Friday and I believe just over the weekend, just to pump up the new movie and to start selling the new merchandise (as you already know). However, every morning the Disney Store does indeed do an opening ceremony where the kid(s) say magic words and the book lights up. It really is a cute production (my DD had done the opening ceremony one morning), they have the kids try to "wake up the magic" and they get to wear a Sorcerer's Mickey hat and his cloak and they have to say magic words. I had asked the CM if this was an everyday thing because my other DD would love to do it (she wasn't with me at the time), and the CM said yes every morning they do this.

DD got to do this one day. She said magic words and woke up the magic and got some trinkets for participating. She wants to go every weekend now lol. It was very cute.
