my work phoned to say they were closing early so no work for me this evening! Was quite looking forward to going in - bit of cabin fever going on

Thw snow is coming towards us from the west and the midlands tonight, it may not get to us until daylight hours tomorrow though. I can feel the temperature dropping rapidly though.

I did manage to go out and get the girls some snowboots and good gloves today, I am determined to be prepared

My DD school was shut today first time in 3 years and the airport had no flights all morning, the snow doesn't usually hit bad here, I don't think DD has ever seen so much snow before. I hope it goes before the weekend.

Glad your dd made it to Heathrow Sadie, at least she got there early enough to get a hotel room as I bet they will get pretty full tonight. I hope she isn't held up tomorrow.

We haven't had any snow yet (well other than the lot before christmas) but I think we are due to get some in the next day or so.

good morning all whats everyone doing today then ?? ive decided to be a naughty mum and keep the kids off school today even if the schools are open. ive had a few kids parents text to say they are not coming in today as well.

How old is your DD Sadie - poor thing suck miles from home!!!

She is a very young 18, timid and shy.

Story so far she is now sitting in Heathrow and checked in for the flight at 9.30. Planes have landed at Heathrow and some have gotten away even though they are running an hour or two late. A few have been cancelled. Keeping everything crossed that her flight isn't cancelled as not sure how she could cope with another night in a hotel and not sure if my heart will last out another day either.

Been alot of snow overnight so many of you won't get to work today. Stay save everyone.

Woohoo Nikki's plane has taken off, 2 hours late but its on its way so thats all that counts. I have just felt all the stress of the last 48 hours drift away.

Thanks to everyone for thinking about us and yes Joanne that was the site I was following as well as the BA one. I think I now know every flight number of every plane that leaves and arrives into Heathrow as well as where they all fly to and from. Some places I have never heard of. Will not becoming a aeroplane anorak yet though.

If I didn't have a airport run to do late tonight I would be having a large vodka and diet coke but can do that tomorrow to celebrate.

I'm so upset, I'm stuck at my mums thanks to the snow. I wanted to walk home (would of taken a while) but Mother was having none of it. Hoping i can get home tomorrow morning when the main roads have been gritted.

OMG ! I am HATING this weather (and I've only had 24 hours of it ). I took DD to college this morning and the traffic lights on a major road were out, so there was major traffic delays (the lights on the Longshoot Nat) Then I popped into Nuneaton and I walked around hunched up and like I'd filled a nappy as 80 year old grannies zoomed past me with their walking sticks Finally I got to Asda and it looked like the shops were closing for a week as quite a few shelves were empty ~ absolute madness

Thank goodness I'm not going out again till I have to pick DD up from college. I'm going to stay in and drink lots of tea (and hopefully find time to finish off my holiday washing )

Ok enough of the snow - we have had sonow on the ground for 3 bloomin weeks and its big chunky snow !!!! It is at the moment -3

It's so miserable and yuk out there but I am going STIR CRAZY in here!!!

So I'm absolutely, definitely going out later - just locally to get milk and something for dinner. Plus I'm also going to make hair, nail and facial appointments in an attempt to give myself a bit of a 'New Year. New You' boost...
