Good Morning everyone, I am off to pay for my holiday soon, had a bit of a stressful time in there yesterday when they reckoned I hadn't paid my deposit, but all sorted now, I thought Ian was going to go down there are beat them with a stick, they had quite the attitude considering it was their error. I am not looking forward to going back there today!!

It's quite a challenge to get them kitted out for school isn't it?

It used to be the sports stuff that I struggled with - the right kit for rugby/cricket/hockey/or whatever flippin' sport they're playing this term!!! Fortunately my DS is now familiar with the school shop so, anything he hasn't got, he's gets (secondhand if poss) from there... He's in the 6th Form when he returns which requires a suit and he already has one from work experience!!! I am planning to get a second one for him next week as M&S have a couple of cheap offers at the moment...

They are on the Oriana going to Dublin, Somewhere is Spain & a couple of places in France ( I can't remember) The 1st stop was meant to be in Falmouth but due to high winds they are going straight to Dublin so get an extra day there They have never been on a cruise before so are only going for 7 nights in case they don't like it. Although my dad has just texted me to say he has had the 6 course meal & was very nice.

Today we'll be continuing our assault on the garage - it's nearly empty now and just have to organise someone round to take away the old furniture... Can't believe it's going to be knocked down soon - exciting stuff!!!

Only downside is the prospect of how many humungous spiders will come heading towards the house in search of a new home...

I have decided to stay at the GF next year for DD, as I had to cancel this years holiday because of me going to uni so thought I would let DD decide.

I just got my timetable for my new course, I am getting all nervous now about working in a nursery, I haven't done worked in one for 10 years.

You will be fine and will soon settle in, natural to feel a bit nervous especially when you are a quieter person but I would much rather have a quieter person join me than a noisy one

I am packing for a city break down to London plus a day trip to Paris. Never been to Paris before and so excited about seeing Eiffel Tower. If anyone has any tips about Paris please share them with me. We were down in London in 2007 but again if anyone has any tips or good places to eat please let me know. Thanks.

Well I've had a busy morning. Surprisingly I slept really well last night. I managed to stay awake till 9pm, and after a long soak in the bath, I was straight to sleep, and I didn't wake up till 6.30 this morning. I had a bit of a lie in, as the girls had stayed at their friends last night, then I got up, went to Asda and then back into town to pay some bills

More washing and ironing this afternoon, then back to normality tomorrow

Have a wonderful time, Bev!!! Paris is my fave city - we lived there for a couple of years so intend to return when the children have flown the nest and my DH winds down his working life to less frantic pace...

Another Paris lover here. If you want to see a lot in a short time the sightseeing buses are good (but not very good value). Stay on them for a complete circiut, we hopped off at our first destination and had a very long wait to get back on again and didn't have time to see all we wanted.

Sounds like you're sorted, Bev. Can I just suggest that you buy Metro tickets (should u require them) in the Eurostar station in London - saves oodles of time when you arrive in Gare du Nord... I recommend using the plentiful buses - some of the routes go past landmarks... For instance, you can pick up the no. 69 at Champ de Mars/Tour Eiffel and go right thro' to the famous Pere Lachaise cemetery...

Thanks Libby and Karen. I had planned to be brave and use the Metro as it seems the quickest way to get from a to b. Though my bro said some things are quite close together to walk.

Karen - thanks for that about the Metro tickets, we will buy them at St Pancras when we pick up the Eurostar tickets on Thursday. Can you buy Metro tickets for the next day or are they valid just for the day you buy them?

My planned route round Paris is this:

Gare du Nord
Statue of Liberty copy
Eiffel Tower
Place de la Concorde
Champ de E.......
Arc de Triomphe
Jardin next to Louve
Lourve
Pont Neuf
Notre Dame
Sacre Coeur
Gare du Nord

I was orginally going to go in a circle but bro advised me to go straight to Eiffel Tower as that is what I mainly want to see, walk across to Place de la Concorde and up Champ de la .... (forgotten the spelling) to Arc de Triomphe.

I then thought a walk by the river through the gardens seeing the Louve and crossing to Notre Dame would be nice, but it is back tracking and I am not sure about the walking distance from Arc de Triomphe back to Notre Dame, may make sense to take Metro at the Arc to the Cite stop at Notre Dame, then walk back passed the Louve and in the Jardin by the river then catch the metro to Sacre Coeur. Sacre Coeur is the closest attraction to Gare du Nord which would put is back in the right area for catching the train back, though not sure of distances.

The tickets are valid indefinitely, Bev - 1 ticket per journey however long the distance. We used to buy them in blocks of ten (a carnet) so I imagine that's still possible...

I guess the only thing I'd do differently is walk to the Pont D'Alma from the Tour Eiffel and hop on the number 92 bus (uses same tickets as Metro) which will take you directly to the Arc du Triomphe. Then walk down the Champs Elysees to Place de la Concorde and through the Tuileries gardens to the Louvre and onto Pont Neuf, Ile de la Cite and Notre Dame...


Whatever you do, I hope you have a fab time!!! I'm jealous - I miss Paris very much as haven't managed to get there in ages...

If you're walking from the Champs Elysee there's a Disney Store on the left hand side of the road. (Much the same stuff as UK Disney store but, like in London, a few city specific Disney souvenirs).

My friend and I bought our tickets by the carnet last spring. You get 10 individual tickets that you can share out between different people if you need to or use them all yourself.
