I signed up for the free trial at ancestry.com, and have been using it a lot since Saturday...viewing census records mostly.

There is one guy in particular in my family tree whom I've had a really hard time finding!!! My great grandfather Lewis Stout, well I finally found him on the 1910 census, turns out on some documents his name is spelled Lewis, on others Louis!!! And sometimes he has a middle initial of F, sometimes S. But I finally found him in the 1910 census, then again in the 1900 census, then again in 1870 (I think it's him, anyway!)...but for some reason he is nowhere to be found in 1880 for the same area!

But it's so much fun to find a puzzle piece, so that keeps me going.

Anyone else have some tips? I've been using rootsweb.com and familysearch.com as well, unfortunately what I really need to do (take a trip to where these people lived) will not be happening for awhile!
