I'm going to be in WDW for one day with DS17 in October. He can't decide what he wants to do that day (I'm leaving it up to him). I have old non-expiring tickets that still have one park-hopper day and several DQ/Water parks admissions.

He was very lucky to get to go to Italy last summer on a school-related trip. He fell in love with the gelato. I'm wondering if, since it will be F&W when we are there, if they have any good (real) gelato? If so, what flavors have they had in the past?

BAD NEWS: I was at F&W last year and there was no gelato at the F&W kiosk for Italy. (Don't worry just keep reading below :thumbsup2 )

GOOD NEWS: Italy offers a few types of gelato year round (at least as recent as late '06). I don't think it may match the gelato in Italy, but it's legit gelato (ie. low air content, high cream gelato). The flavors may vary, but just check fom the cart/kiosk when you hit the Wrold Showcase.

MORE GOOD NEWS: I've heard that the Beach Club Marketplace or possibly the Boardwalk area also has gelato.

Happy hunting!

Beach Club Marketplace has the BEST gelato!!!!! It's right outside the World Showcase entrance to Epcot and wouldn't take long at all. Just exit, get your hand stamped, go over there and get Gelato and you're back in the park in no time at all.

At the permanent kiosk in the Italy pavilion, in addition to gelato, they have great tiramisu, italian cakes and pastries and iced cappacino.

I like the BC Marketplace lemon gelato (not as much the chocolate). It isn't as good as being in Italy, but it is very good!

So do they actually hand scoop the gelato at the BC? The gelato at the Italy stand is prepackaged in a ice cream cup, it was just ok... hand scooped would be so much better!

Another vote for the gelato at the BC Marketplace - yum! They had this on Eyes & Ears newsletter a while back as one of the undiscovered jewels of WDW. The gelato is made in the real Italian fashion, and yes, it is hand-scooped. There are usually several flavors; last time we went, there was an apple gelato, a chocolate gelato, an almond gelato, a raspberry gelato, and something else.

Cheers!
