Hi all!

We leave for Disney in a few days. I didn’t realize until now that you can email Disney about dietary issues. I thought since we’re only 5 days out, my email won’t get answered and if it does, probably won’t be very accurate since it’s a rushed reply.

Anyway- that’s why I have come here! So I can’t eat gelatin and gelatin is in most foods. I’m very careful about what foods I do and don’t eat so I don’t get an allergic reaction. I’m not looking to eat vegan or vegetarian down there since I eat turkey and chicken but the more vegan/vegetarian things I do eat the less chance of me getting a reaction.

I’m just wondering if anyone else can’t eat gelatin and if they’ve talked to a chef at Disney. What did you find? I’m mostly concerned with Mickey waffles and what oil they’re fryed in (or are they baked?), and sides at restaurants like the mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, ice cream, and yogurt. I’ll be eating a lot of fruit and the Mickey soft pretzels because I know they’re vegan.

Thanks in advance! I’m going to keep researching!

The only food you asked about that I've a ready response to is Mickey waffles made at resorts. They are not fried but baked in a waffle iron. Probably other waffles are as well but not sure and food allergies are important.

I would go ahead and email Disney since they've a computerised database of questions asked in the past.
Are you allowed to eat food that uses agar agar as a sub for gelatin?

Get this into your food profile by calling.

Disney is amazing at addressing food allergies.

Not only will a full list of ingredients be provided upon request, you can likely speak with a Chef to personally answer your concerns.

I will comment that your allergy is a first for me. But I did just educate myself on the differences between collagen found in food-stocks that make many sauces versus gelatin.

Don't worry about only being a few days out. Disney goes above and beyond for food allergies. I'm allergic to ginger but hadn't ever listed it on my ADRs because I can general figure out what won't have ginger or I ask if I'm not certain. When I have asked about ginger being in a specific dish at WDW they will often have the chef come out to tell me what I can't have on the menu. Your allergy sounds a bit trickier so I would go ahead and call to have it listed, but still go ahead and ask at any restaurants.
