Gel Ice Packs

I am leaving for WDW on Friday (6/1). I had knee surgery two months ago and still need to ice my knee...especially after a lot of walking/standing...which we know I will be doing.

My question is, can I pack a gel type ice pack in my checked luggage? I will have a fridge with a freezer compartment big enough to cool the pack at the resort. I just could not find this specific item addressed on the TSA website.

Any thoughts/experience with this?

Although I have never seen information specifically to gel ice packs, I would think they would be fine in your Checked bag.

There are NO RESTRICTIONS ON LIQUIDS/GELS IN CHECKED LUGGAGE.

I recently flew from BNA-MCI and back with a gel ice pack (frozen going, but thawed coming back) in my carry on and no one said anything. I wasn't even thinking about it not being in a frozen state coming back and totally expected to have to toss it at security, but did not need to. That said however, in future I wouldn't do it again unless I was prepared to toss it if asked. I travel often enough that I should have known better (TSA says no gel over 3 oz. and then only in a quart size baggie), just wasn't thinking that trip!

Don't risk putting it in your carry on. You don't want it thrown out. Check it in your luggage and it'll be fine. You did not mention what resort you are staying at. All mods and deluxes have fridges (no freezer, but i suppose you could turn the fridge all the way up) .....the value resorts don't have them in the room but you CAN rent them.

Thanks for the info everyone. Was planning on putting it in checked luggage.

Staying at POP...in a fridge swap (it has a decent size freezer).

Can't wait until Friday!!!
