............the smaller their gifts get...........yet the more expensive they are!! :confused3 I got the kids gifts all wrapped the other day and seperated them in piles. I spend the same amount of each of the 3 of them. I am amazed at how small their piles are becomining. One 4" box alone cost over $70! Makes me miss the days when you could get a really big box for $20 and the kids would leave the toy inside and play with the box instead!! :teeth:

I remember when they were in elementary school and they told me not to get them clothes for Christmas. Now having 2 teenagers in h.s. and 2 in college, they are begging for clothes-(but they want to still pick it out) just have mom pay for it though.

I noticed the shrinking pile this year too. Every item DS wanted was $50 or better. Needless to say- there aren't many.

I haven't wrapped anything yet, but the pile in the closet is definately smaller. DD wanted an IPOD nano, and DS a Nintendo DS. They are in small boxes, so except for a few small things, their pile is small............less wrapping too :cheer2: ..Who can forget the boxes that took almost a roll of paper to wrap, and staying up til 2am wrapping on Christmas eve., just to get up at 6 when the kids couldn't be put off anylonger..........ahhhh, the good old days. I kinda miss the excitement of Christmas morning, since the kids are 15 and 17 now, I have to go in and wake them up at 8, or we won't make church.

Dh was just sayin it looks like such a small christmas maybe we need more

NO it's just that the size of the gifts is smaller and the price is more

that is why i bought a smaller tree this year :rotfl:
so the pile wouldn't look so small :)

ALL of my two big kids' presents (and DH's too) fit in a regular size Rubbermaid bin. DD6's presents are the only ones that don't fit. Guess we go along with your pattern!

We have the same there here with DD11. She's getting an mp3 player and lots of other "good things that come in small packages". Yet DS7 is still getting the nice big toy packages. I'm worried that she'll think it's not even. Hopefully she understands why his pile is bigger. It's the same number of presents, and we did actually spend more on her!

To make my DS9's pile look bigger I went and bought him a Snow Hog (sled) that came in a huge box and it was only $29.99. The other DS's(5) pile was way bigger but cheaper. I think he'll love the sled. You can actually steer it.

Good idea ! But, darn it, Grandma got the kids sleds for Christmas, so I don't think Santa needs to get another one. (darn gma's always getting the good stuff)

LOL, one year we got a new dishwasher and I took one look at the box and got an inspired idea. We cut out 'windows' and made a 'door', and painted the box blue. It was the perfect gift for my two year old! I threw that box away some 5 years later...one of the best (free) Christmas gifts ever!

We are just starting to experience this too - When I got the stuff out to wrap my DD's pile looked much bigger then DS's but I spent the same amount on both - so I took some of DS's smaller things and wrapped them in bigger boxes - LOL now their piles are more even - plus it is kind of fun because he has a harder time guessing what he is getting when I wrap in a bigger box. LOL
