Does anyone know when the point charts will be available?

Also when can you start booking for these rooms?

We are planning on going in October 2009 and were told that they should be available fall 2009

thanks! :goodvibes

They are not even open for sale yet, so no bookings for a while. I imagine ressies will be first allowed by GCV members, such as BLT is doing. I had heard it might open in November 2009, but no definite dates yet.

Hopefully a points chart is in the new book that will be coming out soon! I wnat to see what the points chart looks like so I can book my vacation there.

I want to see what the points chart looks like so I can decide how many points I want to add-on there!

Finally sold some of our SSR points so now I'm ready for our GCV add-on. Bring on the points!!!

I don't understand why people selling their points at one resort and buy more at another resort. Don't people loss money selling the point cheaper than what they paid? And aren't all points equal except the 11 months/ 7 months booking window? I just wonder why is all, don't get me wrong.

Some of the DVC resorts are much smaller than others and at popular times you need the 11 month window. As for the pp if you are not picky about where you stay then in Florida it wouldn't matter that much however there is only going to be 1 DVC property in California, at least for the foreseable future and if you want to go at a popular time such as christmas you will absolutely need the 11 month window.

In our case it was for a few reasons...
1. We're trying to switch the majority of our points from a Feb UY to an Aug UY since we travel in the Fall and the banking deadlines have changed since our original purchase. Luckily we purchase everything in contracts 100 points or less, so they are fairly easy to sale. Now that the two smaller contracts are sold we have 100 points in each UY. Our GCV add on will go on the Aug UY.
2. We travel with our extended family so no trip is smaller than six or seven, but can be as many as 20, so each trip ties up quite a few points.
3. We live in CA so we want quite a few points at the GCV as we do more trips to DLR than WDW.

Your right it does end up costing a bundle to make the switch, but it will be better for us in the long run.

Hi, I'm new to this board (although I've lurked for a long time). I also live in Elk Grove CA. I currently have 300 points at SSR (250 & 50), but would like to make the switch to VGC. Should I just rent my SSR points out since they don't seem to be bringing much on the resale market or should I just bite the bullet and dump them? I would be interested in everybody's opinion. Thanks

If this helps anyone, I attended the annual condo meeting and this subject came up in discussion. According to several answering questions during the Q&A portion of the meeting....things are getting close to being able to tell us when this information will be coming out. It was stated there are several states they have to register with and each state has it's own unique process and requirements.

After much discussion they said they are hoping to be able to start selling GCV shortly after the first of the year. So based on that (if it happens as planned) the charts will come out a little before the selling begins. Of course the Founding Members will get the first window of buying opportunity before the general DVC group and then last the public.

I am keeping my eyes and ears glued for more information as well...thanks for bringing this subject up and on the top of all of our minds.:cool1:

Hi Neighbor!

The resale market is pretty loaded with contracts right now so it's not the best time to be selling, especially a larger contract. We didn't do too bad with our two 60 point contracts, one sold for $86 within two days in June and the last one sold for $82 yesterday, they were $83 when we purchased them, so basically paid the commision to sell them. If we weren't trying to change our UY I would of hung on to our points.

When DVC lowered the min buy in to 100 points at AKV last summer we started a new UY so we're also in the GCV Founding Members.

what are the odds that GCV gets passed the founding members to regular DVC members and then to general public???

I think you'll have a pretty good chance of getting points with the way the economy is right now. If not, I'm sure you'll see some on the resale lists eventually.

Neighbor, I hope you are right, but I'm afraid with super small size of GCV and the lack of property for DVC to develop down there that these points will be snapped up and will hold there value better than any DVC resort yet. I just hope the point charts aren't too brutal. :scared1: I think I will sell my small 50 point contract and keep and rent out the points on the bigger one.:thumbsup2 I am so ready to buy!!!!!:cool1:

I just got back from a Disneyland trip last week. used points to stay at DLH and got a 3 bedroom suite on a corner of the Wonder tower overlooking the waterfalls on one side and all of DL/CA on the other patio and we had an ok time. We're SSR owners and were very happy to get a tour of the VGC models down there and finally meet our guide there face to face. We loved the models and will probably buy as soon as they open for sale to founding members, but I have to ask how many people just think (and pardon my bluntness) that Disneyland frankly sucks compared to WDW? The whole atmosphere in general compared to that of WDW is a night and day difference. It just seems to me that they have no clue how to operate that place efficiently or in a pleasurable manner. If we did'nt live in CA and have two very young boys who just love going I'd probably never go back and only visit WDW. Anyone else feel this way?

I wouldn't say DLR "sucks" but I do prefer WDW (except I miss some of my favorite rides like Indiana Jones, Mr. Toad, Alice in Wonderland, Matterhorn and Pinocchio's Daring Journey). But I haven't been to DLR for ten years, while I just went to WDW twice this year and have four trips planned for next year.

That's funny. We have made one trip to WDW and we all pretty much thought WDW sucked. :) Too hard to get around, too complicated and big. We're hoping our trip in 2010 shows us the 'light' as it were. I WANT to like WDW, really I do!

I love DL more also, it has the original favor, classic/ magical feel to it. Take for example River of America.... talk about a night and day difference!! During the day its just a busy waterway you can ride around on the riverboat or do other activities, but at night Mickey battle the villains, Peter Pan fight against Captain Hook in the river you experienced all day! But if you go to WDW's DHS to see the same show, you are sitting in a theater, you know you are going to watch a production, you see the mountain and you know the mountain is a stage set. It is just less magical. Another example the apartment above the fire hall on town square. In DL, you know Walt Disney used that space personally, there is history. But in Magic Kingdom, you see the same basic set up, but you know it just a replica. It is bigger, it is taller, but it is just a replica of the original.
Oh don't get me wrong, I love going to WDW. It is just doesn't make Disneyland sucks.

I went to Disneyland 3 times this year (and WDW twice) and loved it. I don't really like to compare it to WDW, it's just too different, they both have their plusses & minuses. It's nice that everything is in one place (I stayed at Paradise Pier twice and GC once), you don't have to worry about transportation. The CA Screamin roller coaster is so awesome, I would put it ahead of any WDW "thrill ride". Space Mt is also way better out there. WDW has of course more parks and has more room (alot of the DL ride lines are outside). I love the more tropical feel. But then I love the California climate too. So I'll continue to love both!

I and everyone in my family, with the exception of one eight year old grandson, prefers DL to DW.

There are things that I do like about the World.
1) A large selection of varied premium accomadations.
2) Epcot.
3) Long distance vistas, esp. in Animal Kingdom.
4) My points go farther.

Disney Land is my Favorite because
1) The Grand. I love Arts and Crafts design. I like being that close to the parks. The lobby is outstanding! The fireplace, magnificent.
2) I like Cinderellas castle but, Disneyland IMHO is superior to the Magic Kingdom in every other way. Fantasyland in the World seems cheesy and don't even get me started on Toontown. Nothing at the world gives me the same magical feeling I get when cross under the railroad and enter Main Street at DL. The parks are closer and I guess, overall, I just like the more intimate feel of the place (no buses).
3) Customer service. I have been to the world only twice so I may not have enough experience to be an accurate judge on this, when I was there I often felt like I was dealing with underpaid unhappy employees. Maybe it's just the "East Coast" attitude, but I felt like, as a customer, I was bother to them. My first trip there we stayed at OKW and did not even get a "Welcome Home" from the surly gentleman behind the desk. In fact he wasn't behind the desk. No one was in the lobby and at 1am we had to wait 45 minutes for someone to show up and check us in. Nothing like that has ever happened to me at DL. When we are at DL my wife and I like to count the number "magic moments" we get from cast members who often go out of there way to make our stays memorable. One time my grandson had said something that brought my 4 year old granddaughter to tears. As she was sobbing Cinderella came by on her way to somewhere and crouched and held her and told her that she loved her. She stopped crying a was amazed as Aroura, Snow White and Belle each at three or four minute intervals stopped and talked to her. She went from tears to enchantment in matter of a few minutes. This is only one of the examples of CMs going out of there way to make Disneyland special for me and my family. I haven't given up on DW and am looking forward to exploring all of the DVC resorts out there but I think Disneyland will always be my favorite. :goodvibes
