Hey all, was at DL last night and asked one of the guys at the DVC booth a few questions. I asked many questions to which he did not know the answers, but here is what he did tell me. (all of which I take, and suggest you take, with a grain of salt)
1. GVC points will not go on sale until much closer to actual occupancy than the points in FL did. This is due to CA timeshare laws being stricter on this aspect. Construction is going as planned with an expected completion of November of 2009. He said he thought points going on sale this year was a very big maybe. I got the impression next year was more the reality.
2. MF are expected to be higher in Cali due to property taxes (or that was a sales pitch to buy AKV points.)
3. The models are now open. Though there could still be some design changes. For example, right now there is a murphy bed under the TV and the design folks don't like how you see all the wires when the bed is down.
4. I was not at the preview event in May but allegedly the big change from then to now is the lighting. I guess they used some authentic arts and crafts lighting by a famous designer that was way to expensive, and they have substituted for cheaper but similar lighting.
BTW, I read in another thread folks saying the room looked boring or under decorated. I totally agree. But with my limited research, it appears the decor is very in line with the traditional arts and crafts movement. I have not seen the room myself yet since the models were closed for the day by the time I got to the park yesterday, but the main color in the room should be the lighting, and I have not seen any pics of lamps either to know if that is true.
5. According to the guy I spoke with, anyonewho bought in Cali qualifies as part of the Founding Member program to have first dibs at points; even if it was a few years ago. I have a call into my guide to confirm this. (I know many of us have heard different stories on this issue.)
Just thought I would share wit all those other folks interested in DVC arriving closer to home!
