GCV questions

I am hoping to book a 1bedroom at GCV next August at the 7 month mark. I realize summer is a busy time and I might not get it. I am wondering, if I have to wait list for it can I book the Disneyland Hotel on points in the meantime, just in case GCV doesn't come through? Would the points be able to go back to use for GCV? And would I be out the $95 (or whatever it is) to book something other than a DVC resort?

Also, does anyone know if the Disneyland Hotel or the other one that is there (the name is escaping me at the moment, I apologize) have a concierge level that can be booked on points?

I am just trying to figure out our options. Of course GCV is our first choice but I am nervous about not being able to get it.

Any advice/info is appreciated...thanks!

If you book the room at either Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier those points then become reservations points and cannot be used at any DVC property if that reservation is canceled. There is no $95 fee to book the hotel rooms at the Disneyland Resort.

The concierge levels are not available for points.

If you book right at the 7-month mark, I think your odds are pretty good that you will get in.

Also, it's usually easy to get rooms at DLH or PP much closer to your time of travel so if the GCV room isn't available right at 7 months I'd waitlist and give that a few months to try and fill.

Even though we own at VGC our first two trips there were scheduled within the 7 month window and we had to wait list both times. We didn't have any trouble getting our requested dates. I'd wait list and then if they don't come through look at the hotels.

Okay, thanks for the advice everyone. I do plan on calling the day my 7 month mark hits, so I'm hopeful .

I don't think that you will have a problem. August is not as busy as you might think. It would be more difficult during the times when the point values are lower such as the fall. Good luck.
