Does anyone know whether or not GCV will have a DVC store like the other DVC locations do?

I believe that they have added grocery items at the White Water snacks and I expect it to be very similar to WDW DVC stores.

I agree with KAT4DISNEY. Any time that Disney has added a DVC resort to an existing Disney hotel, they have added a "grocery store" to one of the gift shops where you can buy a loaf of bread, cookies, frozen pizza, soda, milk, beer, etc.

Thanks. I didn't think WWC was big enough to put more things in there, but I guess the will just re-do it and maybe take out the video games. Do you think they will also put DVC merchandise in there, or do it at the store in the Grand?

I'd expect any DVC merchandise to be at the store, not White Water.

I agree Whitewater is pretty small to put in many items, so it will be interesting to see how they work around this..I hope they don't take away the hot food items or something foolish like that...

I was at the store in the GC last week and asked the CM if they would have any DVC pins for GCV. She looked at me like I was crazy and said she didn't know what I was talking about. Guess we'll have to wait and see if they sell DVC merchandise.

The exterior of the GCV looks great. It appears to be getting close to being finished. However, as of last Friday, they had not started any landscape work, which is one of the last things they install.

We were there the end of June, and the mature trees had been put in, along with the hardscape around the pool. As for WWS, we also wondered how they would add groceries. We thought they might lose some of the indoor seating, for the glass fridges, and shelved goods.

I was at Whitewater Snacks two weeks ago. I spoke to a manager who happened to be in there talking to a Castmember. He said that Imagineering had been in a couple of weeks proir measuring. They are planning on adding additional cooler units opposite of the existing ones. (Where they pastries are now for those of you familiar with whitewater). He said it would be completed before the 23rd of September. I do not see that there will be any room for merchandise in Whitewater (They do not even sell it now) I assume that any DVC related merchandise would be sold at Acorn gifts in the main lodge. I do know for a fact that there is no additional retail space being added in the addition. Hope this helps.

I've also read that with the new DVC at the Grand that they are also returning the game arcade. Anyone know if this is fact or fiction?

I wonder if there will be any sort of a shout cut the the DCA park gate or if we will have to go through the lobby to get there.

Just came home from the Grand on Thursday. The third pool is finished and full of water. The constructions guys told me they hope to have all outside construction done in two weeks. The lifeguard was told the pool would be open in two weeks also. They were pouring concrete for the driveway into the underground parking lot and the walkway in front.

Oh when we checked in on Monday we saw Goerge Lopez waiting for his car to come from the valet... Got our picture taken with him:love:
On Thursday as we were leaving, Tim Burton and his wife Helena Bonham Carter got out of a van with their kids. They stood their long enough for me to snap a picture with my camera phone and then were wisked away by Concierge.... Oh it was so fun... Never saw them in the park though...

So...does this mean we will have parking at the Grand (instead of having to self-park at the PPH?) I'm hoping...

When I look online it say Free Self Parking across the street. :sad2: So I have a bad feeling the 3 stories of parking underneath with be for valet or convention or Napa Rose parking.... I was also told we could park 2 cars... When we back in Oct we will have a two bedroom with 9 people and three cars. I wonder how that's going to work....:confused3 Nothing is said either about free valet parking like at WDW so I don't thinks that an option either.

There already is one, it's next to Napa Rose and takes you into the park near the Rapids & Soarin.

I think the question is whether there will be a shorter short cut to Paradise Pier from the new Villa area, since we back right up to it :worship:

Granted, the other entrance isn't that far, but how cool would that be to walk out your villa door to line up for TSMM :thumbsup2

Doubt they will given they'd need to have CM's checking bags and taking tickets but we can wish...pixiedust:

There used to be an entry from PPH right into the Paradise Peir area of DCA, but it was closed after 9/11. The only time we used it was in early 2000. That gate and pathway was finally completely removed to make way for GCV. -- Suzanne
