We are staying at the GCH with a park view room. I thought I would put in a request for a room.

Which would you choose?
Grizzy peak and GRR or Paradise Pier and the Sun Wheel.

PS Does anyone know who I call to put in my request?

Thanks

Ask for a room facing the Bear for sure. I've stayed at the Grand Cal a lot over the last few years. Here's why this is the best location;
1) Closer to the exclusive DCA park entrance.

2) Best view, and the sounds of the water, kids laughing, and the park music can be heard (and seen) from your patio.

3) Separate elevator from the masses.

4) Closer to the pool gates.

5) Closer to the Cafe.

6) Great people watching from your balcony.

7) Fun to watch the maintenance staff late at night try to fix the Rapids (if it goes down).

8) Great view of monorail passing by you.

So, there you have it. Hope this helps

When we stayed at the GCH, we had the Paradise Pier view from the sixth floor and it was great! We had an unobstructed view of the grounds facing directly towards the Sunwheel, so we could see a bit of the pool and all of the pier. The Pier is beautiful at night and stays lit, even when DCA closes. It overlooks a quieter area of the hotel, so you won't get a lot of noise, with the exception of the music of the Electrical Parade when it makes its showing at night. In the AM, we saw the CMs working on the Mullholland Madness coaster. We've never really had any issues with the elevator being crowded, and while it is farther from the entrance to DCA, walking there from the elevator takes only a couple of minutes. You get to walk through that gorgeous lobby every time.

Bottom line...whatever Park View you end up getting will be a nice one! :)

When you make reservations, just talk to the CM taking your information and ask them to put in a comment on your Park View preference in your reservation. They'll tell you that it's no guarantee, but they'll do the best they can. Oh yeah, and the earlier you can check in, the better. Even though official check-in is at 3PM, you can check-in as soon as you arrive and then have them hold your bags until your room is ready. You can even call the hotel a couple of hours before you're there in person and do a "Pre-check-in." That's what we did. We called about 10AM to pre check in, got there around Noon to check-in "in person", and we were lucky to get the view we wanted.

Good luck and have a great time!

I decided on a Grizzly Peak view for all of the reasons FastPass said. We like to take breaks during the afternoon, and wanted to be as close to the park as possible. I thought we had the absolute perfect room. It was on the 5th floor, directly over the GCH entrance to DCA. It was close to the elevator that FastPass mentioned, but not so close that you could hear it. It took us around one minute to get from the exit of Grizzly River Run up to our room to dry off. The nighttime view was nice, with Tower of Terror in the background; we could even see the fireworks off to the side, but we were seldom in our room at night, except to sleep.

If you spend more time in your room at night, or if you are going during the winter when park hours and daylight hours are shorter, a Paradise Pier view might be desireable. But still, I loved being right next to Grizzly River Run.

I had my agent put a Grizzly Peak request on my reservation. Then, following advice I read on these boards, I called the hotel 2 days before my arrival and requested a Grizzly Peak view, 3rd floor or higher. The cast member taking the request was very friendly. Again, I don't think I could have gotten a better non-suite room.

We just got back last week, and had rooms facing Grizzley Peak. (rooms 3446 & 3448 if you want to look at the map.) The view was incredible!! We looked straight at GP, but you could see the Tower of Terror to the left and California Screamin' and PP to the right. The monorail went right by the room. My only complaint was how far away the elevator was! I'd heard people complain about this, but I really didin't think it could be that bad. It was quite a trek! I have some great pics of our view, but I can't post an attachement. Let me know if you want me to email you a few.

Thanks everyone!

Did you by any chance have a room with two queens and a daybed?

Never mind, I just called and apparently there are no park view rooms with daybeds.
