We've stayed at DLH twice and plan on staying at GCH for our upcoming trip in August. We upgraded to APs at the end of last summer, so we thought we'd try out the Grand this time around since we probably won't have APs in the future. The difference between a standard room and a "woods/courtyard view" room is $13 a night. Just wondering if paying the extra $13 a night will make much of a difference in our room quality. We would really like a room with bunk beds that is as close as possible to the DCA entrance. I know that if I request bunk beds they won't guarantee it, but we're doing a split stay at the Hojo first, so we'll be able to check in at 6am and wait for a bunk bed room to be available if necessary. Is there anywhere online that I can find a map of the Grand with the room categories and bed arrangements listed on it? Does anyone know specific room numbers to request to get the type of room we'd like?

I do not know about bunk bed rooms, but I do know what you are asking for is probably two different categories. If you want the closest rooms to dca enterence, and I have to assume you mean the main enterence since the private enterance is always backed up in the morning and takes a long time to get thru.mso the main enterence would be down the long farthest away hall from the lobby, those rooms are not wood court yard rooms. The front would be DTD views and the back would be dca views. Although if on second or third floor maybe they would just be standard view, because all you would see is big tall trees, so I will assume that the back of that side on lower floors would be standard. The court yard few is up near the lobby and down the middle of the hotel, from floor three to floor six you see the monorail coming thru, I'm not sure what you see on floor 2. You either have to walk thru lobby and out to dtd or you have to walk to other end of hotel and out to dtd, or you have to walk to other side of hotel and down to private enterance. Not a bad walk either way, but if you really want the closest, I think you need to book a standard.

A map showing view types and bed configurations is not publicly available. Bunk bed rooms are spread throughout the hotel and are in all view types.

The majority of Standard View rooms are at the front of the hotel, so upgrading to Courtyard/Woods view avoids those rooms.

This is an unofficial map, showing roughly the Courtyard and Woods view.
The Courtyard rooms are shown in orange.
The Woods view rooms are in brown, but generally on the lower floors. Upper floors would likely be theme park view.

Actually, I did mean closest to the private entrance. I know not to use that one in the a.m., but we'll be going back and forth from the hotel to the parks throughout the day (we're paying big bucks for the GCH so we're not going to just sleep there!)

Thanks for the map Nonsuch, that's exactly what I was looking for! I think I better go with woods/courtyard because standard will probably put us at the front with views of the PPH and parking lots and will be a pretty far walk to anything.

I'm disoriented by the map. If you did want a Woods/Courtyard view closest to the private entrance, where would that be on the map?

Request to be near the elevators adjacent to Napa Rose. The path to the GCH entrance to DCA is shown in green.
The path to DTD is shown in red.
The "emergency" stairs to DTD is shown in blue.
(yellow are DTD view rooms)

This map helps make more sense out of the above maps because it shows the groundfloor with lobby, pool, restaurants, courtyard, etc. We always request the wing over Napa Rose/Mandara Spa because as mentioned above, you have quick and easy access to everything. It has its own elevator bank with its own little lobby next to Napa Rose, which is also very close to the main lobby (Great Hall). It's still a little confusing to spot the path from the Great Hall to DTD--it's in light green and passes the Brisa Courtyard then makes a 90 degree right turn and then a 90 degree left turn, LOL. On the map, it's hard to tell that the light green corridor to the left of Brisa Courtyard is inside while the courtyard itself is outside. You exit the indoors with that 90 degree right turn. You can see the entrance to DCA in the red circle, and the small elevator bank/lobby (E) next to Napa Rose.

We were in a bunk bed room, courtyard view that was pretty far from the main elevators but super close to the stairs to get to the DTD exit. Our room was 4150. If we stay there again, I'm not sure where I would want to be, the wall back to the room was long but it was great to be able to walk down a few flights of stairs and be right in DTD.

When we were there in December, we had Room 3333. It was fantastic! The location was awesome, especially after a long day at the park. The elevator is next to Napa Rose and boom, no walking all the way through the resort for an extra 10-15 minutes. Courtyard/Woods view and the monorail goes through. Really nice. No bunk beds in that room, it was a King. I'm going back in a few weeks and have requested a room in that same hallway, with 2Qs.
