GCH experts? Which rooms have the daybeds?

We have only stayed there a couple of times in a standard 2 bed room. My mom and I and my two little girls are going for a girls' weekend in Februray. :cool1: We are staying at GCH in one room and it would be a bonus if my mom could have her own bed. I've heard that some GCH rooms have a daybed? If so I would love to get one and put my older DD on that.

I'm just wondering where those types of rooms tend to be located . . . if none of them have neat views - like DTD or Theme Park then I might not be willing to make the sacrifice. I like having a good view and am considering paying extra for one.

It could also be that I'm imagining things and that there are no rooms with day beds or that those are the rooms with the Kings. I am not interested in the bunk bed rooms because the bunk beds can't sleep an adult comfortably.

thanks for any insight anyone might have!

I thought all of the rooms had a couch that turned into a daybed. :confused3

I do know that as of Sept 2008 that is not the case, since we stayed in a room with only two beds. I think many or most of the PPH rooms have a daybed. And many of the DLH rooms. The GCH rooms are super small.

I was told by a former CM that all of the rooms w/daybed are located near the lobby. For me that's a huge plus!! I think they are more likely to give those rooms to parties of 5. I was told we had one when I reserved for our October trip, but when we got there we were given a bunk-bed room instead. I did NOT like the bunk beds (thought I would, but I didn't). The daybed rooms are supposedly larger but that's according to the former CM who worked there. I can't verify it from personal experience, but it is true at DLH. Most rooms at DLH have a daybed and 2 queens. Most rooms at GCH do not.

Is there a possibility your dh or someone else might go? You could put them on the reservation and it might give you a little more leverage when requesting the daybed room. We are a party of 5 which is why the CM told me when I made our reservation that we would be given a daybed room. She said all the bunk bed rooms were taken (I asked). Wish we had gotten the daybed room though because our room was way, way far away from the lobby.

Since you only have 2 kids and not 3, like I have, they couldn't really substitute a bunk bed room for a party of 3 adults/2 kids. At least, I don't think so! The bunks are too small for adults.

We just stayed (twice actually..2 days before ABD and then 3 as part of the Adventure). We first had the standard room with 2 Queens, the second set of nights we had a King with a sofa, but I don't know if it turned into a bed.
I don't think the rooms are small at all, and we have discovered that park views are not usually that great anymore. We went in 2001 when it opened and the views were wonderful, but the trees now block a good bit of the park view. I like Downtown Disney view the best (although the hotel told us that they rate the pool view as the best booking category) ???

Nope, in Nov 07 we stayed in a DTD view room at the GCH. No couch in our room, we did have bunk beds tho. I don't know where a couch would fit in that room tho, it was way too small to have another piece of furniture.

We went in Oct. and had a King room with a theme park view. View overlooked grizzly rapids and was great (it was during the TOT party time and we watched all the trick or treaters and got to listen to the park music at night). We had a sofa/daybed and we were not close to the lobby. The room was actually a pretty good size and comparable to DLH.

Oops-- I worded it wrong. I meant to say all of the 2 Queens and a Daybed rooms are near the lobby. A king with daybed wouldn't work for the OP.
