GCH Concierge

We checked into the GCH at what we thought were the concierge level rooms as booked on Disney's website. Then we were told that we paid $1500 extra for "concierge" but all that entails was the "privilege" of staying on the 6th floor. If we wanted the amenities we would have to pay an additional $150 per night!!!!! :scared1:

Is this a crock of doodoo or what?? This is the third time for us at GCH and the second Disney vacation in 6 months. We stayed for a week at the Wilderness Lodge at WDW in September.

The concierge decided to give us the additional amenities as a courtesy because the website was "confusing". I guess this is just making me a bit upset that we paid so much extra and were treated as if they are doing us a favor. I know now that we never should have booked a "concierge" room at the GCH because it definitely isn't worth it.

What a lousy way to start a vacation! Should I bring this to the attention of management or consider it a life lesson?

Being a manager, the manager would like to take care of your expectations. You need to talk with them and let them know about your disappointment. They can not fix things if they do not know what is wrong. I was quoted $175.00 a night for the concierge service(food, drinks, etc) in the conceirge lounge for our August trip. The key to success is being nice but forcefull.

Good luck,

Jack

Not sure how many nights you are staying but I would call crock of doo doo. We stayed concierge at the GCH last October, and the rooms were $150 more per night but that INCLUDED all of the benefits.

I actually am booked concierge again this coming October - and paid $150 extra per night for the concierge - (room rates of 209, 359 with the concierge). After reading your post I called the reservations and they assured me that this included ALL of the concierge services, and that only the Suites should have $150 added.

I would definitely ask, and I truly hope you can still enjoy your vacation!!

The above does not make sense to me. I was under the impression that all rooms that were considered conceirge would have an additional charge of $150.00/night and the suites were additional $175.00. The conceirge charge does not vary but the room rates do depending on the time of the year.

Thanks,

We booked online with Disney and the options were:

1) City view concierge room +$1496

2) Theme park view concierge +$1546

No where on the website did it state that if I booked these rooms, "concierge" services were NOT included. I think this is rather deceptive and the concierge that finally change the status agreed and promised to notify their IS staff to update the website. It just upsets me that after expecting "concierge" services , we did not receive it until complaining and then it was changed for us as a "courtesy" meaning don't expect it again.

Well I am going to voice my concerns with management and I doubt that I will ever stay in concierge again. But we still do love Disney.

Thanks for the words of support.

I don't get it - we have stayed there 2 times booking through the Disney site, exactly as you described - and we have NEVER had that problem... I would definitely ask someone else...I just booked again in October and called them today to make sure I would not have your same problem, and she (Danielle??) told me that the ONLY time there is the extra 150 charge per night is if you book a suite.
