GCH Concierge or DLH Concierge?

I am looking to do a weekend trip either in late September or beginning of December. I'm just wondering which hotel would be a better option, I'm a little shocked by the price of the GCH on the weekends, I can't do weekdays so the weekend prices are going to have to be what I need to deal with.. I am just wondering if it is worth it. I won't be going to the parks on Saturday so I would enjoy whatever hotel I stay in, I'm just wondering which one has a better atmosphere and concierge.

Also if I go in early December, would the pools be heated because that is what I am interested in doing, and are both hotels entertaining for a full day? No children are going to be in this party. And which hotel has better Christmas decorations?

I haven't seen a lot of reviews of either concierge/club level lounge so which one would be better for adults? Do both serve wine and beer?

We haven't done concierge so I won't pipe in there. However, we stay in both hotels regularly so I'll give my feedback in general.

We prefer the DLH in warmer months of the year so I would go with DLH if you stay in September. The pools and atmosphere are awesome, especially when it's warm. You may want to consider renting a cabana on your Saturday not in the parks - I feel like the value is there at around $125 or so for a half day rental and it makes relaxing by the pool so much better.

We prefer the GCH in the winter months, especially at Christmas. The Christmas decorations and additional experiences are wonderful. So magical! A stay there is our favorite way to begin or end Christmastime. The pools are heated and it's often warm in SoCal even in the winter so it's still totally feasible to enjoy the pools in December.

Since the parks will be busy on the weekends in both September and December, I feel it is worth the extra expense of staying onsite. It makes everything much more manageable.

We have stayed Concierge at both GCH and DLH recently and I much preferred the GCH staff and lounge. It is possible that we had an off stay at the DLH, since I was surprised that we didn't care for it as much and others seem.to love it.

At the GCH, staff were consistently engaging and efficient. We never had a problem getting a glass of wine anytime in the afternoon or evening. We loved the tea sandwiches at the GCH, and missed them at the DLH. We were barely acknowledged in the DLH lounge.

In terms of aesthetics, the GCH lounge is smaller, but cozier. I liked the balcony as a seating option. At the DLH, the view was great, and it was sunny and bright most of the time. We were always in the Parks at fireworks time, so I don't have any personal experience with that part of the lounge.

As for which hotel would be entertaining for a whole day, it is a toss up because there are good options at both. However, the Mandara Spa at the GCH is convenient when staying there. I could spend a few hours between the spa, pool and lounge and call it a lazy day!

We haven’t tried GCH as we prefer the theming of DLH much more. The time we went the staff was great! Always helpful and happy, and even helped with restaurant reservations for us. Like @Avery’s mom mentioned the view is great..big huge windows and a nice view of DD. The food was good and we were able to have wine or beer at any time of the day. We did watch the fireworks from the lounge one night and it was nice. It filled up rather quickly so get there early. I don’t think you can go wrong with either hotel. Have a great trip!

I got a really good deal or price for GCH during the Gay Day Weekend... has anyone booked through the convention? I'm a little worried because I have to call them to book the room and I just want to make sure its legit.. is there any way after I have a reservation that I can see it on the official disney website?

Yes, I have booked through Gay Days and Dapper Days official channels and they are legitimate ways to stay at onsite properties at reduced rates. You will receive a confirmation, however, i don't know if it will be visible through the Disneyland website. My gut tells me that it won't be, as it is a room only group rate.

In terms of booking a Gay Days rate, however, you will be restricted to a standard room without the ability to upgrade or request concierge.

I have booked thought the Disney Meetings site for both Gay Days and Dapper Days several times. All booking was done online, the meeting site seems easier to use than the "regular" Disneyland site.

I emailed them about the concierge rates, and they said that I can and that I just have to call and reserve it instead of online.

I have a reservation for mini gay days for just one night. I called a few minutes ago and upgraded to a concierge room at GCH, which changed the cost from $239 to $469. Thanks for alerting me to the fact that you can do that; Dapper Day doesn't let you upgrade from a standard unless you pay full price.

Can you give me the number you called? (just so I can make sure that the numbers match even though they gave me the #... I want to just make sure)

I called the number on my confirmation email: 714-520-5005. You'll need your confirmation number.

I love the afternoon scones during teatime at GCH! And being able to get a glass of champagne during evening appetizers, I think that's only an option at GCH but I'm not 100% sure as I haven't stayed CL elsewhere onsite. The staff were wonderful, both in the lounge and out, especially on our visit in Dec. As far as decorations go GCH hands down has the best Christmas decorations of the hotels. And the lounge was decorated, it even had its own unique gingerbread house! (That was quite a surprise to me because I am a thorough trip planner and had never seen anything about that, I loved it!)

Oh, we were there 2nd or 3rd week of Dec and used the hot tub. It was cold, there is NO WAY I would have used the pool but the hot tub was nice and not nearly as crowded as during summer. The pools were deserted except for a couple kids and some seriously bored lifeguards :)

For Dapper Day you cant`t upgrade from a Standard to a better room like Theme Park View or Pool or Courtyard without paying full price but you can upgrade to the discounted Concierge. We did. $479

Champagne was available by request all day during our last visit, early December 2015.
Other guests were having mimosas with breakfast :drinking1

The Disney Parks Blog reported about DLR Club-Level service: GCH, DLH, PPH

That sounded like the perfect way to start a vacation morning! ...until I remembered I am so sleep deprived on Disneyland trips it takes a couple espressos in the morning to get me going!

I've stayed at DLH concierge but not GCH. We have has such great experiences that we keep returning to DLH. Mira usually significantly cheaper than GCH, and the view is phenomenal...floor to ceiling windows facing downtown Disney and the parks. You can see clear to the mountains, even big bear if it's a clear day! Our service has also been great, especially in the evening, and we are happily served wine any time of the day, and sipping mimosas while watching Disneyland come to life in the morning is great. The view of the fireworks is great from the lounge but we pay extra for resort room and watch from there where it's less crowded

We've stayed at all three, but tend to stay at DLH. I always have a mimosa for breakfast at the DLH. All 3 hotels offer it.

I really enjoy the service at the DLH. I quit trying to make myself like the Grand.
