GCH: bunk room vs daybed room request

I am trying to decide which room type to request. Possibly both, if there's space in the request box? We are very flexible, but hoping for the 5th bed because our youngest is tall and 35 lbs and the pack n play might be a squeeze. In any case, our first priority in our standard room request is the monorail courtyard (boys would love that) with room type secondary.

I am assuming from what I've read in much older posts that neither category is considered an upgrade. Please correct me if that has changed. I am also assuming, despite being a party of 5, with one being an under 2 we would not be first in priority for these rooms.

I haven't been able to figure out if one room type is more abundant than the other so, therefore, might easier to receive nor if either of those rooms are available in the courtyard at all. If anyone has knowledge or experience to share like receiving one of these rooms in that location, can you share that with me? Any other thoughts that might help me decide which would be the better choice would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

You know I have absolutely no idea...but you could def call the hotel and speak with a cm. They should be able to help you out and attach a note/request to your reservation in the computer. Good luck to you!

Yes, I will call, but I was hoping to have additional info and advice before doing so. It helps me to be as informed as possible because I do not like making phone calls.

The daybed rooms are more prevalent in the standard view and can be found around the main lobby atrium. The bunk beds are more prevalent in the wings of the hotel.

We have had both and there is more sleeping space in the daybed room for 5. The bunk rooms have more floor space, but they are twin bunks.

We've stayed in both. I much prefer 2 queens/daybed!!!! The bunk beds are very short, and though there is a pull-out trundle as well, it is awkward to use. When you pull it out it takes up the floor space between the bunks and the other bed, is right on the floor, and has to be made up (there is a fitted sheet on it but no pillow, top sheet or blanket). If it makes a difference to your family, it is harder for the kids to watch TV from the bunks and my girls didn't really like them, but they have them at home so it wasn't a treat like it might be if they're not used to them. The worst thing about the room was its location. Yes, it had a courtyard/monorail view, but it was MILES from the lobby and quite a hike to get to anything.

OTOH, the 2 queens/daybed room has more room for our family. All 3 of my girls easily sleep in a queen bed, but we did use the daybed too. We could "mix and match" people/beds as needed, whereas with the bunks there is no way the adults could have slept in anything but the queen bed. The daybed gives you valuable space during the day, and best of all, those rooms are located close to the lobby/elevators. I snickered at the complaints I read before our trip about the rooms very distant from the elevators, but believe me, I wasn't snickering by the end of our trip. It really is a hassle to be two looooooong wings away from the elevators.

You can get both rooms with a courtyard/monorail view, but I'm not sure exactly where all the bunk rooms are located. I only know that ours was far, far away!! I'm sure I would look back on it more fondly had it been closer. Oh, and both of those rooms were standard. Whichever request you make, add one for a room close to the lobby/elevators!!! You are more likely to get the bunk bed room if you have small children, since they're the only ones who can fit into them. When we got the bunk room, I had originally been told when making the reservations that they didn't have any left and we had the 2 queens/daybed room. When we checked in, though, we'd been switched to the bunk room. I'm glad because now I know I don't want it again The next time I requested the other and got it.

Just returned last night from GCH. We had two rooms 5008 and 5007, one with king bed and a sleeper sofa and the connecting room with a queen and bunk beds. The children loved the bunk beds, the trundle bed would be good for your little one (the pack and play is in the closet if you decide to use it.) We were booked for 2 standard rooms and at check in I asked for 1 room with bunk beds near the lobby. Our rooms had a pool and theme park view but were directly facing construction. We hardly noticed the construction since the building was draped during the day there was minimal noise with the door shut when they were working. We really enjoyed sitting on our balcony overlooking the pool. It is worth it to ask the CM when you check in what is available. The only bad thing about the bunk bed is that my older son (10) is a restless sleeper and it was noisy when he moved around on the top bunk. Have fun and don't worry the hotel staff is very accommodating and we were there during a super busy time. You can't beat the convience of this hotel it is just great to run into the parks and right back to your hotel.

The bunkbeds are short because they are designed for children. So if your kids are tall or older I would go with the day bed.
