I have looked at all the thread pages, saw what to do with the gc :lmao: that was great... saw a link to the gc: to rent or not, but when I click the link it just takes me to the 1st page of the threads :confused3 So my question I have searched for an answer I cannot find is, will I really need a gc? We have DH35(old hahaha), me 30, DD10, DD9 and DD5. Wondering if the pools are on the bus loop if you are on a cabin loop far away? And what the furthest distance to a bus stop may be if we are walking.

Need? No. Bus transport will get you where you need to go regardless of where your site/cabin is.

IMO a cart just makes it easier ...and way more fun!

How far you need to walk to a bus stop? I'd venture a guess that it's no more than a 10 minute walk... although some of the GPS gurus here will probably have a more precise answer for you. ;)

Our plan is to go to the parks in the mornings and evenings, go to the pool in the afternoon for a break. Only 1 day planned for hanging out at the resort only. I'm just debating is it worth the $245 for a cart to drive back and forth to the boat/bus/pool areas instead of walking. We are trying to save money, but I don't know how much fun getting 3 DDs to walk back to the cabin at the end of the night when they're tired.

I have a little longer to think about the GC thing and save for it than you do. I am in the same boat as to whether or not I really NEED one. Actually, I don't need one, it would be for my Mother who is going with us. If it is not a necessity, like a physical limitation, I would say it is just a personal preference. I can definitely see where it would be FUN, and most would say it is even worth the money. But, that $245 would buy an awful lot of groceries. I'll just have to see if my wallet will allow it.

I say if yall can afford the cart get it. I have bought 2 golf carts main reason to use at FW and we live in Tx. We have gone to FW many times with no carts but the last 2 trips we brought our own. FW just seems more fun and accessible with a cart. If you are going to the parks in the morning coming back then going back to the parks again in the same day the cart will save you a lot of time.

If I can fit it into my budget, I will absolutely, positively rent one! My parents have a Mule and when we are at their house, we drive that thing all over creation. But it doens't cost us $245 for the week. DH got $40 in OT on his paycheck today. I have already put it in the CG fund.:rotfl: Seriously, the GC is not for us, though I am certain we will enjoy it, it is for my Mom to be able to get around the Fort more easily.

If you can't afford a cart for the whole trip, just plan a few days to spend around the Fort and get a cart for just those days.

Here you are helping me out again!:worship: I am going to have to bake you some cookies and bring them to you!:)
I believe I will call both companies mentioned on here tomorrow and see what the rate for 3 or 4 days would be. Usually, there is just a $10-20 difference between 5 days and a week with stuff like this, but it never hurts to ask.

You can just leave them on the coffee table in front of the tree... crispy cookies with toffee are my favorite! Yum!

Oh, and the Fort is probably going to be cheaper than going off-site if you're just going to do a couple of days.

I feel your dilemma. The first time we ever rented a golf cart was last year. Did just fine without it for years as the furthest the bus stops are is about a 6 minutes walk. (When you fax in your request for your cabin, ask to be put close to a bus stop, that way your walk could be about 2 minutes). BUT with one, boy do you get spoiled. Coming back to the Fort after the parks when your whipped, it is so nice to know that within about 5 minutes you'll be back at your site vs. waiting on the bus. Maybe you could just get a cart for the park days. But beware :scared1:, it will spoil you.

That's the way I work it now since money is a consideration, I just pick a cart day and then plan the activites around that. Good luck and have a wonderful trip.

Great choice. Toffee cookies happen to be my favorite cookie so I have had a lot of experience with them! There is no other way to have a toffee cookie but cripsy! This is getting sweeter by the minute!:goodvibes

I know you don't remember this, but when I first joined this forum, I posted a question and prefaced it with something about being politically correct? I just remember you said, "This here's the camping board...we don't do politically correct/incorrect here!" I knew right then and there we were gonna get along.

It really is a dilemma. Driving to the pool when we come back for a break every day vs waiting for a bus or walking... walking back to the site if the internal buses aren't running cause we stayed at EMH til 1am... the ease of driving to the boat/bus stop... $247... sigh. I already bumped our trip up by $1,000 by switching from POR to cabins...

We have stayed at the fort 4 times and rented a GC all times. The first time DS was 3. He really enjoyed it!!! Like it was space mountain!!I always budget a GC. We adjust by not eating on Disney property much. Just lunch. Dinners are at the cabin or off site. We also don't go crazy with souvenirs. And finally, I don't ever go to Disney paying full price. We go when they offers deals. That is how we "roll" with the GC. So my answer is my family "needs" the GC.

I left you oatmeal cookies and powdered milk. Is that why I did not get what I wanted for Christmas?

This will be my first time renting a GC. BTDT when it comes to using the internal bus system. It will get you where you are going, but don't count on getting anywhere quickly.

It's a lot of hurry up and wait going on without a GC. You hurry down to the bus stop only to wait for the next bus that you want. If you are going to MK, you finally get to the marina only to have to wait for the next boat. Sometimes you get really lucky and don't have to wait too long. Add in summertime heat and humidity and the waiting is even more fun.

Forget making a "quick" trip to the outpost to pick up milk or bread. There is no such thing. It could easily take an hour to get there and back using the internal bus system.

I've found that for our family, we do more than enough waiting around inside the parks. The convenience and freedom of not being at the mercy of a bus system is worth it.

Just wanted to let you know that Kenny does offer rates for less than a week and they are good! I inquired about 5 days and it was $178.85. Mike has a flat rate of $50 a day and his discount. However, 5 days cost the same as 7. Of course Disney ain't budging.:sad2:
I did not even think to ask Kenny about 3 days or a just a daily rate? I was only thinking of my own situation. Gosh how selfish of me!:guilty: SORRY!

OP here... I'm convinced, rented a golf cart for our stay. I'm pretty excited about it!
