Currently booked at GC Theme Park View (Dec. 16-20) and I'm a WDW veteran making his first trip out to Disneyland. I see that DLH Concierge costs pretty much the same. I am a big fan of the Contemporary in WDW (and its original Disney vibe) and something about the DLH calls out to me! I also love the Wilderness Lodge and the GC appeals to me for that reason. Should I switch or stay where I'm at? I appreciate anyone's thoughts. Thanks!

I love the GCH. It does have similarities to the WL. It has the big lobby and a huge fireplace area with lots of nice places to sit and relax. When we're in the lobby, we dont feel like we're in a big city anymore -- it's amazing.

I like how close GCH it is to DL and how you get a back door right into DCA (right by the "wet" river rapids ride, too, which is great for changing clothes quickly). You can't beat the location. Also it is one building, the DLH is 3 buildings, not attached. It's the only hotel that Disney actually built; the other 2 were bought from other companies.

The GCH theme park view is really great, especially at night when all the rides are lit up. You are so close to DCA so you can really see alot. And the pools are a great place for an afternoon break.

We've stayed in Concierge, Theme Park View, and Standard view rooms. There are bunkbed rooms there by request. Like some WDW hotels, there are LONG hallways -- we've always asked to be near the main elevators and have always gotten our requests.

I haven't stayed at DLH Concierge, though, so I cant comment on that. There is a nice Peter Pan/Capt. Hook pool area there. It is a longer walk to DL and you have to use the front entrance for DCA.

Both hotels are equally close to the monorail and the Downtown Disney shops and restaurants.

I'd stick with the GCH. It's a lovely hotel and the location just can't be beat. It's steps away from everything and makes the Contemporary feel like a moderate for convenience. I might consider the DLH concierge over GCH view if I had four or five in my party. The rooms are a little bigger, and the concierge perks mean more if you have plenty of people to take advantage of the hospitality spreads. DLH is a fun place, and the pool at the DLH appeals more to kids. But overall, and especially for the location, the GCH is the better resort.

We stayed at DLH concierge July 12-15. WE LOVED IT!! We are WDW veterans and were at DL for the first time. The Disneyland Hotel is completely different from any of the hotels we have stayed in at WDW so it was a treat. The Wilderness Lodge IMO is nicer than the GCH so I was glad I was at the DLH. We ate at Napa Rose and for what we paid did not enjoy the food.

The concierge lounge at the DLH was wonderful- the CM's were so attentive and treated us like gold. We had breakfast there every morning and enjoyed the cereals, oatmeal, bagels, juices, pasteries, and fresh fruit. We watched the fireworks from the lounge where the music is heard and the view is nice. Complementary beer. champaign and wine are served (and delicious gigantic chocolate chip cookies).

Our room was on the 10th floor of the Sierra tower (concierge lounge on the 11th) with an incredible view of downtown disney. The bed was so comfortable I slept so well-

If I ever go to DL again I will definitely stay in the DLh concierge.

If money is not an issue, I would stay at the grand. If money is at all a concern I would go with the DLH. Its not that much further to walk. The breakfast, snacks and drinks are very nice. And the extra service you get with conc. is very nice.

Of course one way to decide is do you want a "Disney" theme, or a "California Craftsman" theme. I personally think the GCH theme is much less compelling than WL, because it is not going after a "place" as much as a style of architecture. It is beautifully done, but also anyone can sit in the lobby and eat in the restaurants.
I will be staying in DLH concierge in September......so I will have first hand reports!
