Hi everyone! I'm looking for information and pictures of rooms at the GC for five people. It will be three adults (my mom is coming with us) and two kids, so I'm guessing the bunk beds are out of the question. I've heard that some rooms have day beds, are they large enough for an adult?
Thanks for the help!

The rooms with Daybeds are only at the front of the GCH. They all overlook the driveup and parking lot out front.
For your family of 5, I'd first request a room with a daybed. Second choice would be a room with bunks. I have been in both room types.
The room with 1-Queen and a set of bunks is fine, as long as those on bunks aren't over 5'6". I'm 5'4" and slept on the bottom bunk and had plenty of room.

Page 187 post #3724 has a map of the hotel.
If you look on the map, the 4 rooms on either side of the Entry are the only ones with daybeds.

Thanks for the info! I'll call first thing in the morning to request a room with a day bed.

We've slept 3 adults and 3 kids in a bunk room. I think the bunks are just fine for non-male adults.

I thought the MAX Occupancy for those and the other Standard Rooms was 5 people.
I've heard infants may not count in the occupancy count. What were the ages of the kids?

Just a word of warning. If you are not ok with one of your kids sleeping in a sleeping bag opt for the Disneyland Hotel. It is always possible that you may not get the room your are requesting at GCH and one member of your party will get a sleeping bag. Apparently the number of daybed rooms is limited at GCH and there are no guarantees.

Remember that requests for specific bed configurations are only a request, and there is no guarantee. There is a chance (actually quite likely) that you will be assigned a room with 2 queens and the 5th person will be provided with a sleeping bag. There are only 39 rooms with 2 queens and a daybed at the GCH, but that configuration is common at DLH and PPH.

Nonsuch, how many rooms with bunks are there?

AirForceFamily, what time of the year are you going? Time of year can play into room availability.

Disney has not published exact numbers, but prior to the VGC there were 154 bunk bed rooms.
Assuming the expansion added bunk beds in a similar ratio to the existing hotel (a big assumption), there would now be 184 bunk bed rooms. The total number or rooms (non-suites) increased from 745 to 945.

Bunk bed rooms are spread throughout the hotel, available in all view types.

Had an infant in a pack and play.

We are going at the end of April. The crowd predictors say that the parks should have pretty low crowds. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Honestly, I'll be pretty upset if we paid all that money for one of my daughters to sleep in a sleeping bag. About a week ago, we tried to switch our reservation to one of the other hotels, but they didn't have availability.

Oh the crowd predictions, a slippery slope. Maybe check your anticipation of low crowd levels then. I'd go expecting moderate levels if there isn't hotel availability. Hotel availability can also be impacted by convention goers though, so you might get lucky and the hotels are booked by convention goers as opposed to park goers. I don't want to rain on your parade here just want to make sure you're planning appropriately (ie with regards to dining reservations, fast pass plans etc.) just in case it's a little more crowded than anticipated.

Don't worry, we've been to Disneyland and Disney World more than a few times, so we know not to expect it to be crowd-free. I'm just hoping that we will get a decent room and one of my kids won't have to sleep on the floor.

I keep hearing that there is 39 rooms with 2 queen and a daybed. And I also hear that they are the four rooms either side of the enterance. So my question is, if there are only 8 rooms on each floor and only 4 floors in the building, since the lobby takes up two floors. 8 time 4 is 32, where are the other 7 rooms? Why do some people say they get a court yard view with the 2 queen and a daybed? Because if that is all of them they all over look the front of the gc. Just wondering if anyone knows the answers? I have to request on of these rooms so wish to be able to know for sure, how many and what location.

Anytime I have asked, I have been told they overlook the valet area. I *think* the second floor does have these rooms.

GCH has 6 floors with most guest rooms on floors 2 through 6, but there are many exceptions:
The VGC wing has some villas and hotel rooms on the ground floor.
Many areas of the hotel do not have a 6th floor.
The DTD wings only have guest rooms on floors 3 though 5.

The daybeds rooms are:
7 rooms on floor 2, what would have been the 8th room is office space.
8 rooms on floors 3 though 6. Total is 7 + (8 * 4) = 39
All daybed rooms are standard view at the front of the hotel, a sample view:

Thanks, the second floor does have some. And people saying they have a court yard view, must think the trees around valet parking is a court yard. I do know and have heard that if you don't book it just right even if you request these rooms you will not get one. So I am asking for standard view, and a room with a daybed. Thanks for the help.

The times we have had a room with the daybed, there have been 5 people on the reservation.
I booked a standard room with a note on the reservation for a room with a daybed.
I ask for nothing else, I want the word "Daybed" to stand out.
I call to check a week out and again the day before arrival.
However, this is for travel dates in October, January February and early March.
We prefer what had been considered a low crowd time in the parks.

Only once at check in did they not have a day bed room assigned to us.
I politely explained the need for a daybed, magic happened and we found ourselves in a daybed room.

We are a family of 5 and often stay at GCH.

We do fine with 2 queens; we like 2 Q + daybed best, but we've had every configuration.

Least favorite for my family is the bunk bed rooms. My girls hate them. They take up all the floor space in the room when the trundle is pulled out, the rails are high which blocks TV viewing, and the bunks are short.

We actually really enjoyed having the sleeping bags! We only needed one, but when the other 2 girls saw the setup, they begged for sleeping bags, too! They bring a mattress pad thing so the sleeping bag isn't sitting on the floor. The sleeping bag is pretty cute and the girls loved arranging their "beds" the way they wanted. We had more room and the sleeping bags could all be easily removed for more space.

I don't think it's something you'd want to do with adults, but I wouldn't worry about a kid getting a sleeping bag bed. They're kids. They like stuff like that.
