GC Parking Question

We are very excited to be staying at the Grand Californian next week. I understand that hotel guests have free parking but I will not need to use it since we are flying in and taking a shuttle. However, we have a friend coming from San Diego to visit for the day - can she enter the parking lot and use our parking? Do you pay when you exit the lot? Thanks for any responses!

<font color=navy>Your friend will need to have a parking card on her dashboard to be allowed in the hotel parking lot. Another option is for her to park in Downtown Disney - 3 free hours of parking.

Thanks for your quick reply. Maybe I should have her first park in DTD and then meet up with us and then we give her our hotel parking card before her free parking is up?
