I was SOOO prepared for our Disneyworld trip last February but haven't done any research for our stay at Grand Californian next week. We're going to a wedding reception at the GC & will be staying there on Saturday night. We weren't planning on going to the parks on Sunday because I'm VERY pregnant (I blame that on the Disney Cruise) & it would be very uncomfortable for me to be walking all day long. Do you have any suggestions for other activities that we can do? I was thinking about a character breakfast/lunch and hanging out at the pool. Any other ideas?

Do they do room requests here too? Any suggestions as to where I should ask for?

thanks for your help...

Congrats on your upcoming trip, and your pregnancy! I am planning a trip to GC in early October. Been to DL many times, stayed at DL Hotel once, but haven't been to DCA or GC yet.

GC has a character breakfast with Chip, Dale, and Pluto at Storyteller's Cafe. However, all the reports here say the characters stay in the restaurant entry and do not actually mingle. I've heard terrific things about Goofy's Kitchen in DL Hotel. One of my friends went to a character dinner, I think she said it was around $25 per person. She really enjoyed it. I'm not sure if they have character breakfast/lunch.

You could also spend some time at DD. I hear it's not as large as the one at WDW, but still has lots of things, including a World of Disney Store, and places to sit and get a bite to eat.

What kind of room did you reserve? I have a theme park view reserved, but I'm leaving it up to the luck of the draw. I only requested an upper floor.

I have a feeling we're going to get a room with NO view because our rate was $173 a night (since we're part of a wedding party). I'm not really picky about which room we get but I figure that we may get lucky & get a room with a view.

I'm a little disappointed that the characters don't mingle with the guests. I'm wondering if its worth all that money for a character meal (since we're light eaters anyway). When we were at Disney World, ds had a lot of fun at Chef Mickeys & at Artist Pointe character breakfast.

Now I'm thinking we can either do lunch at Storyteller's Cafe or even Rainforest Cafe (at least I have a $10 certificate for RFC).

Thanks for the input LuvTigger...noticed you're from Kailua..I grew up in Kaimuki!!
