GC and Fantasmic Question Retry

I posted this a while ago, but want to ask again since now more people have stayed at the Grand Californian.

We are going to try and get up very early to get Fantasmic tickets. Is there any impediment to getting to Disneyland Guest Services say at 5am. I know there is a gate, but is it ever closed? I have read on other sites that the area is gated off until 6am, Is that true?

DH made it from GC to guest relations through DD to gate last month from GC. He was first in line and saw the work done during the nite to ready park areas for opening. It was 4:30 AM and still dark!!!

What day of the week was that, and how long before anyone else showed up. I have 4 nights possible, but want to do it on a night that has Beleive, and that would only be Friday or Saturday.
